State Police will be in full force throughout this weekend, with fixed sobriety checkpoints, underage drinking enforcement and the “Operation Hang Up” initiative, which targets distracted drivers by utilizing unmarked patrol vehicles to locate drivers talking or texting.    Governor Cuomo announced that temporary lane closures for road and bridge construction projects on New York State highways will be suspended through Monday, December 2 at 6:00 AM to accommodate travelers during the busy Thanksgiving Holiday weekend.

Congressman Anthony Brindisi announced he is part of a bipartisan congressional delegation letter that was sent to Governor Andrew Cuomo urging him and the state legislature to stop the new bail reform law, following widespread opposition to the law by Law Enforcement, District Attorneys & Victim Rights groups.

The Greater Afton Area Chamber of Commerce will be hosting Small Business Saturday, on Main Street, from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM; interested vendors can register at localvendorconnection.com.

The Unadilla Chamber of Commerce will participate in Small Business Saturday tomorrow, Vendors will be set up at the Masonic Temple from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM,  The Holiday Magic Parade will begin at 5:30 PM & Santa Claus will meet with children at the Community Center starting at 6:30 PM.
