The Delaware County Sheriff’s department announced that a man, who crashed his ATV in the town of Hamden Saturday, has died from his injuries. 30 year old Michael Armstrong of Roxbury had crashed his ATV into a tree; he was not wearing a helmet & sustained head injuries and was eventually taken to Basset Hospital in Cooperstown where he succumbed to the injuries Sunday night. A passenger on the Armstrong ATV was wearing a helmet & suffered only minor injuries, 2 others were injured when they crashed into the damaged Armstrong ATV. Deputies believe that alcohol was involved & the investigation is continuing.

Delaware County Sheriff’s Office responded to a personal injury, rollover UTV accident on Bloomville Hill Road in the Town of Meredith. the driver; 27 year old Nicholas Santomero, of Brewster, suffered a medical emergency and lost control of the side-by-side UTV which subsequently rolled over, ejecting Santomero and his passenger, 26 year old Cody Petrucci of Harrison. Deputies reported that neither one was wearing a seat belt or a helmet, they were transported to O’Connor Hospital, Petrucci was later transferred to Bassett Hospital in Cooperstown, for treatment of a serious head injury. Nicholas Santomero was treated at O’Connor Hospital and released. The investigation is continuing.

2 area colleges will have their Commencement Exercises Saturday. Hartwick College will graduate the class of 2018 on Elmore Field Saturday at 11:30 AM; SUNY Delhi’s commencement will take place on the college track Saturday morning at 10:00 AM or at Clark Field House in the case of inclement weather.

Rehabilitation work on the Route 12 Bridge over Fly Meadow Creek in the Town of Oxford is underway. The $1.1 million project will replace the deck and perform additional structural work to improve the overall condition of the bridge. Work on the bridge is expected to be completed by the end of November 2018.

The Norwich emergency management will be hosting a Citizens Preparedness training programs on Saturday at the Norwich High school. The training is free & open to the public registrations are required at prepare.ny.gov.

The Unadilla Town Board will be holding a Special Board Meeting today at 6:30 PM. The board will be making an appointment for the position of Special Police Officer for the Town of Unadilla, the meeting will be held at the Unadilla Town Hall on State Route 7.

The Northeast Classic Car Museum at 24 Rexford Street, Norwich, is opening a new exhibit on Saturday, “Trucks at Work” will be on display through April 2019, it is full of larger trucks, including a fuel truck, US Army truck, dump truck and 2 wreckers, from 1908-1985. Oneonta’s May Fabulous Friday event is being held this evening, scheduled events include a Tom & Doug’s Cruise-In on Main Street, music from The Mopar Cams; will be playing at the same time, the event runs through 8:30 PM.

The American Cancer Society Tri-Town Relay for Life “PAINT THE TOWN PURPLE” event is being held today, and more Relay For Life events are being held in the Tri-County Area in the coming months, Spokesperson Heather Brewster told WCDO News that they need volunteers and they also need donations:

The Otsego County Relay For Life will be held tomorrow in Milford, The tri Town Relay for Life event at General Clinton Park is Friday June 8th this year.

The 28th Annual Edward Wessels Canoe Regatta will be held tomorrow; it is sponsored by the Sidney Chamber of Commerce. The race will be starting at the Otego boat launch & will conclude in Keith Clark Park in Sidney. Awards and a dinner will be held after the race at the Sidney Elks Club, River Street. The race is considered a warm up for the upcoming General Clinton Canoe Regatta on the Memorial Day Weekend.

The Sidney Central School District announced that their Elementary Universal Pre-K applications are being accepted through today. More information is available at 561-7701, a lottery drawing will be held June 1st to determine Pre-K classes for this fall.
