Officials announced the new name of the former NYSEG Stadium on Henry Street in Binghamton to Mirabito Stadium today. Mirabito Energy Products President Joe Mirabito told WCDO News he was approached by Binghamton Binghamton Rumble Ponies owner John Hughes about the Stadium sponsorship earlier this year & they could not pass the opportunity up:

Bayne said that NYSEG will continue to support Binghamton Rumble Ponies Baseball in a variety of ways behind the scenes, but from now on, the home of the Binghamton Rumble Ponies will be called “Mirabito Stadium.”

State Police and local law enforcement statewide will increase patrols to combat drunk, impaired, and reckless driving throughout Memorial Day weekend. The enforcement period started today and runs through Tuesday, June 1st. Memorial Day is one of the busiest travel holidays of the year and Drivers can expect to see sobriety checkpoints and increased patrols by State Police and local law enforcement agencies. Last year, Police issued over 8,000 Tickets over the Memorial Day Holiday Weekend.

The Annual Re-dedication Ceremony will be held at the Sidney Veterans Memorial Park on River Street, tomorrow at 11:00 AM. There is a new section to the wall, Visitors are advised to bring their own chairs & Masks will be required and social distancing should be maintained.

On Saturday, The Rolling Antiquers will be holding a free vintage car cruise-in at East Park in Norwich, from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM. East Park Place Street will be cordoned off, with the capacity to hold 40 cars, cars will be rotated throughout the day, COVID guidelines will be followed.

Temporary lane closures for road and bridge construction projects on State highways will be suspended until Tuesday, to ease travel throughout Memorial Day weekend. Road work may continue behind permanent concrete barriers or for emergency repairs. Motorists are also urged to abide by New York’s Move Over Law and to utilize the 64 text stops located statewide for texting, making phone calls, and other non-driving tasks.

Delaware County Public Health released their weekly COVID 19 report, with 14 new cases 16 active cases 2 hospitalized, and 69 quarantined, they report 2385 total cases and 47 deaths since the start of the pandemic.

This year’s Bainbridge Memorial Day Parade will take place on Monday @ 10:30 am. Parade organizers said that anyone is welcome to participate, participants will be lining up on Pruyn Street near Payne’s Cranes, before 10:00 am. Sidney Superintendent of Public Works Brandon McEwen announced that they have shut the water off this morning on West Main Street between Sunset & Pearl Street, due to a water leak; the water is expected to be turned back on at around 11:30 this morning.
