Governor Cuomo said today that he was disgusted at the actions of Police in Buffalo yesterday during a protest, where an elderly man was knocked to the ground, he hit his head on the ground, and Police walked passed him, even though he was visibly bleeding from the ear:

75 year old Martin Gugino of Buffalo is hospitalized in serious but stable condition today, Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown said that 2 officers have been suspended & the District Attorneys’ office is investigating.

Governor Cuomo today announced the state has reached the lowest number of deaths and hospitalizations since the COVID-19 pandemic began. Yesterday, 42 people in New York passed away Thursday due to COVID-19, down from a record-high of 800 from 8 weeks ago. The number of total hospitalizations was down yesterday to 2,728 from a record-high of 18,825 during the peak of the pandemic.   The Governor also confirmed 1,075 additional cases of novel coronavirus, bringing the statewide total to 376,208 confirmed cases since Early March.

Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested a Long Island man Monday following their investigation of a domestic dispute.  Deputies and State Police responded to a domestic dispute involving weapons in the Town of Davenport, they arrested 32- year-old Abdessamad Ellouzi of Cedarhurst, for criminal possession of a weapon & menacing, for allegedly possessing and threatening family members with a dangerous instrument.  Ellouzi was arraigned by teleconference in Sidney Village Court and was released; he will appear in Town of Davenport court at a later date.

Chenango County Public Health announced that they are at 133 confirmed cases of the coronavirus.  They have 1 patient hospitalized, 98 have recovered, 5, are deceased, 98 are quarantined, over 4000 tests have been conducted.

Bainbridge Town Spring Clean-Up Day is tomorrow from 9:00 am – Noon at the Town Highway garage on Lawrence Road. Residents can drop off tires, white goods and electronics. No garbage, hazardous waste or yard debris and no early drop offs!! The fee for tires up to a size 16″ is $3.00, 17 – 20″ $4.00 and $8.50 for tractor tires. There will also be a $10.00 fee for any appliance that contains Freon.

New York State Department of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation will begin accepting reservations on Monday June 8th for check-in beginning June 22 on State Campgrounds.  The department says campers should follow CDC social-distancing guidelines, Park Police and staff will patrol campgrounds to make sure campers are following the safety measures.  No walk-up reservations allowed; congregate restroom facility will be opened with reduced capacity and cleaned following Department Of Health protocols; more information is available at parks.ny.gov/covid19.

The Town of Masonville announced that they will have a free giveaway of masks & Hand Sanitizer tomorrow for Town Residents, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 Noon, while supplies last, the event will be held at the Masonville Town Hall.

Delaware County is reporting 1 new case of COVID-19, 1 additional recovery & 1 more Death. To date there have been 76 confirmed positive cases, with an additional 18 people under quarantine, 1 person is in the hospital, 6 are isolated at home, 5 people have died and 64 have fully recovered.

The National Warplane Museum of Geneseo announced plans for a Southern Tier flyover Saturday with a projected take-off time of 9:30 AM.  The Museum’s very own Douglas C-47, known as “Whiskey 7” will be accompanied by a P-51 Mustang named “Mad Max.”  National Warplane Museum Director of Flight Operation Todd Cameron explains:

Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested a registered Level II Sex Offender following a sexual abuse investigation in the Town of Davenport.  45-year-old Richard Bennett of Davenport was charged with  sexual abuse & endangering the welfare of a child, for allegedly subjecting a female child under the age of 17 to sexual contact, Bennett was served with an order of protection was issued by Deposit Court & was released on an appearance ticket to Town of Davenport Court at a later date.  Bennett was mandated to lifetime registration as a Level II Sex Offender as a result of his 2006 conviction in Otsego County Court for 3rd degree rape, a crime that also involved a victim under the age of seventeen.

State Police arrested 49 year old Wayne Johnson of Unadilla for Aggravated DWI with a child as passenger and Aggravated Unlicensed Operation.  Troopers responded to a complaint about a vehicle in the ditch off Lilley Hill Road in the town of Butternuts.  Troopers located Johnson walking on Robert Williams Road with 2 children; Johnson was released on appearance tickets to the town of Butternuts court on June 25th.

The Sidney United Way is offering free personal pandemic safety kits to area small business owners to distribute to their employees as they reopen. Each kit includes several masks, a pair of gloves, hand sanitizer, soap and tissues. Business owners may pick up one kit for each employee plus a bottle of hand sanitizer on again today, at SFCU in Sidney between 10:00 am and 4:00 pm, SFCU in Bainbridge between 10:00 and 4:00, in Afton at the RINKER INSURANCE AGENCY between 9:00 am and 3:30 pm & in Unadilla at HOUSE OF CONSIGNMENT between 10:00 and 4:00.  These items are being made available through the Sidney Area COVID-19 Relief Fund.
