The Greater Chenango Cares event will be held July 11th through July 20th at the Norwich High School.  Elizabeth Monaco of Chenango United Way is helping to put this event together & a few more volunteers are needed to assist the military medical technicians at this event:

Ed Curley of Sidney is continuing with his bicycle trip across the country from California to Florida, to raise money for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.  Curley talked to WCDO this afternoon about his progress:

Governor Cuomo announced that lane closures for road and bridge construction projects on State highways are suspended until 6:00 AM Monday morning to accommodate travelers during the busy Independence Day holiday weekend.   Some work may continue behind permanent concrete barriers or for emergency repairs.  Motorists are also urged to follow the state’s Move Over Law, which requires motorists to slow down and safely move over for law enforcement vehicles, fire trucks, ambulances, tow trucks and construction or maintenance vehicles that are stopped along the side of the road.

There’s still time to enroll children in Chenango Arts Councils Kids Summer Art Camp to be held at the Council’s location at 27 West Main Street, Norwich.  The Chenango Arts Council’s Kids Summer Art Camp runs for two weeks from July 29th through August 9th 2019, from 9:30 am to 2 pm, with a break from 11:30 am to 12 noon for lunch. Governor Cuomo today announced more than 300,000 New Yorkers have received training through the Citizen Preparedness Corps, since the program started in 2014.  the Citizen’s Preparedness Corps provides the tools and resources necessary for preparing New Yorkers for any type of disaster so they respond accordingly and recover as quickly as possible to pre-disaster conditions.  Trainings are conducted by the New York National Guard, working with experts from the Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Services’ Office of Emergency Management and Office of Fire Prevention and Control. Volunteers from the American Red Cross also teach courses.

Sam Nader’s 100th Birthday and 50th 1969 Oneonta Yankees Reunion, will be Hosted by Oneonta Yankees on July 12th at 6:00 PM & July 13th at 10:00 AM.  The event will be held at Damaschke Field in Oneonta; Sam Nader was a former co-owner of the former Oneonta Yankees minor league baseball team.

The 2019 Walton Farmers’ Market will be held every Friday from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM starting Today through September 27 at Veterans Plaza at 181 Delaware Street in Walton.  This year, the market will also host a weekly event during the Farmer’s Market.  More information is available at 865-6531 or ccedelaware.org.

The Rockdale Rod and Gun Club will host National Range Day 2019 on Saturday, beginning at 11:00 AM.   They will be conducting Safety Classes for the proper handling, storage, and shooting of firearms.
