THE NATIONAL BASEBALL HALL OF FAME IN COOPERSTOWN WILL RECEIVE 4.7 MILLION DOLLARS FROM THE COVID RECOVERY BILL. U.S. SENATOR CHARLES SCHUMER SAID THE GRANT WILL PROVIDE FINANCIAL SUPPORT TO HELP CULTURAL INSTITUTIONS LIKE MUSEUMS RECOVER LOSSES DUE TO THE PANDEMIC.

THE DELAWARE COUNTY FAIR IN WALTON WILL BE HELD FROM AUGUST 16TH TO THE 21ST THIS YEAR. THIS YEAR’S FAIR WILL FEATURE OVER 150 VENDORS AND NEARLY 15 HUNDRED HEAD OF LIVESTOCK…AS WELL AS MUSIC, ENTERTAINMENT, 4H COMPETITIONS, TRACTOR & TRUCK PULLS, DEMOLITION DERBY, CONTESTS, BIKE GIVEAWAYS, AND EVEN A DAILY GIANT ICE CREAM SUNDAE. THE DELAWARE COUNTY FAIR IS ONE OF THE BIGGEST COUNTY FAIRS IN New York STATE.

New York Attorney General Letitia James today issued an alert to New Yorkers, warning them about the “Boss Scam,” a common text and email scam in which fraudsters pose as a consumer’s employer and request gift cards due to a purported work emergency. This scam may be on the rise during the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic since many employees are working remotely. New Yorkers who have been targeted by this scam are urged to file a complaint by completing and submitting a Consumer Frauds and Protection Bureau online complaint form or by calling (800) 771-7755.

Due to an increased spread of COVID-19, Chenango County is requiring mandatory face masks in all County Buildings and Offices at the start of business on Monday, August 16, 2021. It is also at this time recommended that Chenango County businesses, organizations and schools immediately implement a face mask requirement for their vaccinated and unvaccinated employees, patrons and students. The State DOT is looking for people to fill a variety of positions in the Southern Tier. Currently there is a need to hire Snow plow drivers for the upcoming winter, those with CDL’s are preferred, but all applicants are welcome. More information is available at ny.gov.

Lieutenant Governor Kathy Hochul said that she plans to run for Governor in 2022, after she finishes up Governor Cuomo’s existing term. Cuomo will officially resign August 24th, Hochul will then take over as Governor. She plans to name a New Lieutenant Governor next week.

From August 6th to August 12th, 2021, Delaware County Public Health received 78 new positive cases of COVID-19. There are currently 76 active cases in the county with 3 hospitalizations. 110 ARE IN Quarantine Currently, There Have Been 52 Deaths in Delaware County.
