The National Weather Service has a Winter Storm Warning in effect for much of the region until 7:00 PM Tuesday.

New York State has had 24 straight days where their rolling average of COVID positivity rates has declined, yesterday’s rate was 4.8%, Governor Cuomo commented during today’s briefing that New Yorkers have to be patient regarding waiting for their vaccines and continue to practice social distancing & mask wearing due to the unknown possibilities with the COVID 19 variants:

The state had 8,003 Patient Hospitalizations Statewide with 1500 Patients in the ICU; 987 Intubated on ventilators and 141 COVID-19 Deaths in New York State Sunday, COVID Vaccines administered so far were up to 1.69 Million.

Chenango County Public Health reported 6 additional Chenango County deaths attributed to COVID-19. Chenango County Public Health reports 165 Active Cases, 472 Active Quarantines, 22 are hospitalized and they report a Total number of COVID cases is up to 2110, with 1762 recoveries & 45 deaths.

Effective March 15th, marriage receptions in New York State can be held under limited state guidelines. Events must be approved by the local health department and there will be testing of all guests before an event. Capacity at weddings and receptions will be limited to no more than 150 people or no more than 50 percent of the venue’s capacity, whichever is lower.

Chenango County officials announced that the Grand Jury originally scheduled for today has been postponed until Friday February 5th at the same scheduled times.  More information is available at 337-1456.

Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a neighbor dispute in the Town of Walton.  63 year old John DiMartini of Walton is accused of making threatening statements against the victim, who requested for a criminal summons from Town of Walton Court.   Deputies had received a copy of the summons last Thursday, DiMartini was charged with harassment & will appear in the Town of Walton Court on a later date.

Delaware County Public Health reported 5 new COVID cases Friday & 13 new COVID cases Saturday & 11 on Sunday, with 17 hospitalized, 256 quarantined & 114 active cases.  Delaware County reports a 7 day Rolling average of 4.9% positivity for COVID testing.

Otsego County Department of Health received the 1st two shipments of vaccines in early January 4th, with 700 doses for 1b population.  Otsego County Health Department officials were ordered NOT to vaccinate the 65+ population, however last week; they received a ONE time allotment of 200 doses for 65+ populations. Last Friday they received an additional 100 doses for the 1b eligible workers, and they have now vaccinated 870 individuals with 130 doses on hand.  They do NOT expect to receive any further allotments for the 65+ population; the state is working with pharmacies to vaccinate that population. More information will be posted on the Otsego County Health Department website.

The Sidney Central School District has been notified that one 9th grade student has tested positive for COVID-19. The student has not been on campus since Wednesday, January 27th. The Delaware County Health Department has conducted an investigation and the contact tracing has been completed. There will be no change to the instructional model at this time.

Delaware County Sheriff Deputies responded to a report of a domestic dispute in the Town of Delhi, 20 year old Noah Shambaugh of Hobart is accused of violating an order of protection issued by the Town of Delhi Court, by visiting the protected person’s residence, & threatening and harassing the protected party.  Deputies charged Shambaugh with criminal contempt; he was processed and released on an appearance ticket directing him to appear in the Town of Delhi Court on a later date.

The State Health Department announced that the state positivity rate has been declining for 23 straight days, down to 4.4% on Saturday.  Hospitalization went under 8,000, there were 1,534 Patients in the ICU; 1,008 Intubated on ventilators, there were 138 COVID-19 Deaths in New York State Saturday.
