The Broome County Sheriff’s Office responded to the report of a shooting during a home invasion in the town of Maine at around 8:30 PM Sunday. 23 year-old Jakev Jackson, had been receiving threatening messages while at home, then 25 year-old Brandon Sena-Bruzek of Montrose Pennsylvania & 23 year old Kenneth Hughes of Greene kicked down the door, armed with guns, Jackson was also armed with a shotgun. Investigators believe that Hughes pointed a handgun at Jackson, who fired and hit Hughes in the stomach, seriously injuring him. Hughes and Sena-Bruzek then fled the residence but were apprehended by Deputies, Hughes was taken to Wilson Hospital and Sena-Bruzek was arrested without incident. The investigation is ongoing & various felony charges will be filed.

Governor Kathy Hochul today encouraged New Yorkers to take advantage of the State’s first Free Fishing Weekend of 2022, this Saturday & Sunday, February 19 and 20, when freshwater anglers are permitted to fish for free without a license. Additional free fishing days include June 25 and 26, September 24 (National Hunting and Fishing Day), and November 11 (Veterans Day). During free fishing days, residents and visitors can fish for free on any of the state’s 7,500 lakes and ponds or 70,000 miles of rivers and streams. All other freshwater fishing regulations still apply.

According to the United States Food and Drug Administration, announced that The Royal Ice Cream Company, Inc. has recalled many of their ice cream products due to potential Listeria contamination. Royal Ice Cream products with the manufacturing plant number “CT121” are part of the recall, the ice cream was distributed in retail stores in New York as well as several other states, Consumers should return them to the place of purchase for a full refund. The City of Oneonta is returning to in-person meetings as of Today. City officials said that because the Otsego County’s level of COVID-19 transmission remains High, masks are still required in City buildings. Monday’s meeting first meeting will be the Parks & Recreation committee at 7:00 PM, Tuesday night’s meeting will be the Common Council meeting at 7:00pm, New Oneonta Mayor Mark Drnek will deliver the State of the City address. All Oneonta City meetings will also be available for viewing, in real-time, the City of Oneonta’s Youtube page.

Chenango County Sheriff’s Office arrested 28 year old Cynthia Day of Columbus after she violated a temporary order of protection by showing up to the victim’s place of employment and swearing at the victim. Cynthia was arraigned on a criminal contempt charge in the Town of Oxford Court and is to appear in Norwich City Court at a later date.

Delaware County Public health reported 126 new COVID 19 cases from February 5th through the 11th. The reported 13 total deaths from COVID since the beginning of the year.

The Governor’s Office & the State Health Department reported 3,583 Positive Cases of COVID 19 Saturday, the Lowest number since October 25th. The Statewide Positivity Rate was 2.28% the Lowest Since October 31st. Patient Hospitalizations decreased by almost 300 to 3,588, with the number in an ICU bed down to 608, 352 were on ventilators, there were 50 deaths in hospitals & nursing homes from the virus Saturday.
