Persia Nelson has been charged today for 2nd degree manslaughter, for the death of her daughter, 11 month old Halo Branton of Schenectady. The infant was found abandoned at the GE Plant in Schenectady & died at Ellis hospital Sunday, after the child was reported missing & was the subject of an Amber Alert. Bail for Nelson was set at $500,000 dollars in Schenectady City Court.

Otsego County Sheriff’s Office arrested Colin Smith of Laurens for Menacing, after deputies responded to a fight call, Smith, is accused of having a knife at a fight, he was taken into custody without incident & is scheduled to appear in the Town of Laurens Court at a later date.

Today’s high winds have led to power outages throughout the region. over 2500 were without power in Broome & Delaware County earlier this afternoon, crews are working to restore the power as soon as possible.

An 11-month-old at the center of an Amber Alert out of New York has died in Schenectady. Halo Branton had been reported missing, she was found in the area of the General Electric campus & was taken to a hospital where she passed Sunday, the investigation is continuing.

A Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputy, 31 year old Tyler McAteer of Franklin was arrested by State Police March 6, and charged with official misconduct, following a complaint of sex offenses. McAteer has been placed on administrative leave without pay by Sheriff DuMond, pending a formal investigation.

Otsego County Sheriff’s Office announced the extradition and arrest of 36 year old Jamesan Conville, who was charged with Aggravated Assault on a Police Officer, 2nd degree Assault, Reckless Endangerment, Criminal Mischief, Obstruction of Governmental Administration, Resisting Arrest plus Numerous Vehicle and Traffic infractions. On February 14th a Deputy initiated a traffic stop for a speeding on I-88 in Milford, Conville began to flee while dragging the injured deputy approximately 300 feet across the highway. The deputy was able to disengage and was later transported to Bassett Hospital. 5 hours later, State Police and the Massachusetts State Police located Conville and took him in to custody, he was transported back to the Otsego County Sheriff’s Office Friday, he was held for arraignment, the deputy has recovered and returned to duty.

State Trooper John Grassia lost his life on Friday, while serving as a pilot in the National Guard. Trooper Grassia was on a federal mission with the National Guard, when his helicopter crashed in Texas, he was 30 years old & joined the State Police in 2022.

Otsego County Sheriff’s Office is looking for Ashley Williams, who is wanted for her participation in an animal abuse investigation originating in the Town of Laurens. She is a white female, 35 years old, approximately 5 foot, 8 inches, 120lbs, with brown hair and blue eyes. If you have information on her whereabouts call 607-547-4273.
