Otsego County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested 46-year-old Joseph Amato of Treadwell on I-88 in Oneonta for DWI.  Amato refused to take a sobriety test and locked himself in his vehicle; he was eventually removed from the vehicle and placed under arrest.   Amato was found to be in possession of an illegal weapon, he was also charged with obstruction of governmental administration and criminal possession of a weapon as well as several traffic violations & faces court action at a later date.

State Senator Fred Akshar released the results of his latest Community Survey.  More than half of those surveyed viewed New York’s Vaccine distribution as fair to good, more than 70% have had the vaccine of plan to get it, more than 75% believe that the Governor’s Emergency Powers should end very soon, 54% opposed continuing to defer rent and evictions, while support for legalizing marijuana was evenly split. The Town & Village of Unadilla will have their Spring Clean-up Day this Thursday.  Town residents can bring accepted items to the Town Highway Garage on Martin Brook Road; Village residents can put those items to the curb by 7:00 AM Thursday.  Unadilla Town Highway Superintendent Rodney Renwick told WCDO news what they are accepting:

Renwick said that tires must be off of the rims, & no regular garbage will be accepted.

Chenango County Public Health Department reported 24 new COVID cases since Friday, bringing their total to 3366 since the start of the pandemic, they report 81 active cases, 380 quarantines, a decrease of 64 since Friday, & 8 are hospitalized, there have been 3107 Recoveries & 74 deaths.

On May 5th, Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a domestic dispute in the Village of Walton.  Deputies were advised that the suspect, 39 year old William Cooksey of Walton was intoxicated & had left the scene in a vehicle.  Deputies located Cooksey, he was charged with DWI, aggravated DWI and unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, he was released & will appear in Village of Walton Court at a later date.

Delaware County Public Health announced a Free Rabies Vaccination Clinic For dogs, cats and ferrets on Tuesday May 18th, from 6:30PM-8:30PM at The Deposit Town Clerk’s building at 3 Elm Street; more information is available at 832-5200 or go to delawarecountypublichealth.com.

60% of New Yorkers who are 18 years of age or older have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, with more than 1 million doses have been administered over the past seven days.  All New York State mass vaccination sites are now open to eligible New Yorkers for walk-in vaccination on a first come first serve basis. The walk-in appointments are reserved for first doses only with second doses to be scheduled automatically after administration of the initial shot.

On Saturday, COVID 19 numbers continue to decrease in New York State.  Hospitalizations Drop to 2,024, the Lowest Since November 15; the number of ICU Patients Drop to 511, the lowest Since November 21 & those on Ventilators Dropped to 317, the Statewide Positivity Rate is 1.32%, there were 35 COVID-19 Deaths Saturday.

Chenango County Sheriff’s Department responded to a car & ATV accident on County Road 32 Thursday.  Robert Favorito was hit by a car as he attempted to cross the road on a sharp turn on County Road 32, near River Road Auto, in the Town of Norwich, at about 1:20 PM Thursday, Favorito was pronounced dead at the scene.

The State Department of Transportation is advising motorists of a milling and paving project on a portion of State Route 10/ Main Street beginning Today, May 10th, in the Village of Delhi. Flaggers will be controlling alternating, one-way traffic on Route 10 from Sherwood Road to Meredith Street for approximately 5 days, weather permitting. Alternate side of the street parking will be established within the scope of the project during that time frame.

Sidney Fire Department responded Saturday afternoon at about 4:30 PM, to a fire reported at the Gravel residence at 25 Pearl Street.  The fire started in the basement & was knocked down quickly.  Franklin, Unadilla & Wells Bridge Fire Departments responded, smoke damage was reported.

Delaware County Public Health reported 2 COVID cases out of 361 tested Friday.  Hospitalizations are down to 4, there were 42 active case & quarantines are down to 72.
