Chenango County Public Health reported 20 more COVID 19 cases & 3 more deaths from the virus today. The County reports 194 Active Cases, 14 hospitalized & 458 Quarantines, they are up to 1357 Confirmed Cases of the virus, there have been 21 deaths.

Governor Cuomo announced a change in the schedule for the Delivering of the State of The State Address. The Governor said that he will hold the event virtually on Monday; it was originally expected to be delivered yesterday.

Vaccinations are continuing at a higher rate than the rate announced last week, Governor Cuomo commented yesterday in Albany:

Vaccinations are being given to people in the Phase 1A category, which includes residents and staff of nursing homes and other congregate care facilities as well as doctors, nurses, and all health care workers that come into contact with the public, including individuals administering the COVID vaccine. Phase 1B will include teachers and education workers, police, firefighters, public safety workers, public transit workers, and people 75-and-older. More information is available at ny.gov/vaccine.

47 year old Kristina Hand of Morris pleaded Guilty in US District Court, to 2 counts of Federal Program Theft for stealing thousands of dollars from her former employer, the Morris Central School District. Hand was the Treasurer for the Morris Central School District & stole at least $22,000 in checks made payable to the school district in 2018 and 2019. Hand was fired last February 2020 & was arrested last September.

Members of New York’s National Guard are going to Washington, D.C., to help with the peaceful transition of presidential power, after yesterday’s breach of the Capital during a joint session of Congress to certify the Electoral College votes. Governor Cuomo sent 1,000 troops that are expected to be deployed for 2 weeks; Joe Biden will be inaugurated on January 2oth.

2 men were hospitalized after a stabbing outside the state Capitol in Albany during a protest of the Presidential election results, at about the same time of the Breach of the US Capital in Washington. State Police arrested a Rensselaer man for the stabbing of 2 men, ages 36 & 40, both victims were hospitalized for injuries sustained by the stabbing.

Binghamton Police are investigating the suspected homicide of 60 years old Anthony Cebula, who was found, deceased January 4th at 1 Chelsea Square. Police are treating the case as a homicide as there were signs that the assailant may have tried to start Cebula’s residence on fire unsuccessfully.

Otsego County Department of Health had 27 new COVID cases reported Wednesday, they have 19 hospitalized and they reported 1 new death, their total number of deaths to 18.

Delaware County Public Health reported 25 new COVID cases Wednesday of COVID 19. They are up to 151 active cases with 2 hospitalized & 220 quarantined.

The New York State Division of Consumer Protection is alerting consumers about scammers taking advantage of COVID-19 economic stimulus payments, scammers will be sending phishing emails, texts and phone calls and using social media to try to steal economic impact payments and your personal information.
