The Delaware County Relay For life event held last weekend at the fairgrounds in Walton raised almost $42,000 for the American Cancer Society.  The Tri Town Relay For Life will be held on June 7th at General Clinton Park in Bainbridge, starting at 6:00 PM.

State Police arrested 26 year old Alexander Donenko of Lisle for Criminal Mischief, Criminal Trespass, Aggravated Unlicensed Operation and Unlawful Possession of Marijuana.   A trooper was dispatched to the Broome County Fairgrounds in Whitney Point for the report of a Pick-up truck ripping up the lawn.  Donenko was arrested the following day & was found to be in possession of a small quantity of marijuana, a suspended license and an active bench warrant with the city of Binghamton Police Department, he was processed and will be appearing in the town of Triangle Court on May 14th, & he was turned over to the Binghamton Police Department.

The Oneonta City School District Board of Education announced that they accepted the retirement of Joseph Yelich as Superintendent and appointed Assistant Superintendent Thomas Brindley as his replacement. Both actions will become effective on July 1st.  Yelich has served as superintendent in Oneonta since 2013.

State Police arrested 44 year old Daniel White of Meredith for DWI, Refusal to Take Breath Test, Leaving the Scene of Property Damage Accident, Possession of Open Container, Unsafe Speed and Moving from a Lane Unsafely.  Troopers were dispatched to a 1-car accident on Dry Brook Road in the town of Meredith.  When troopers arrived, they were told by Meredith Fire fighters that White left the scene; he was located hiding in a ditch a short distance from the scene. White was processed and arraigned in the town of Davenport court where he was released on his own recognizance; He will appear in the town of Meredith court on June 5th.

The Oneonta Municipal Civil Service Commission announced open-competitive exams 2 jobs to be held on June 1st.  The open positions are Library Clerk & Water and Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator / Operator Trainee.  Application deadlines are May 22nd; Applications are available at the Personnel Office, 258 Main St. or at oneonta.ny.us/personnel.

The Otsego County Chamber of Commerce will hold their Annual Diner & Celebration of Business today at the Foothills Performing Arts Center.  The Chamber will honor Les Grummons as the Distinguished Citizen & Pathfinder Village of Edmeston as the Distinguished Business of the Year.

Hartwick College Athletics will host its annual benefit auction from 6:30 to 9:00 PM tonight at the Carriage House Event Center on South Side Drive, in Oneonta. Proceeds from the event will benefit the College’s athletics program.

The Bainbridge-Guilford Central School will hold a Board of Education Meeting tonight in the Guilford Elementary School Cafeteria at 6:30 PM. The business portion of the meeting will start at 7:00 PM.

The Chenango County Health Department announced that the next free rabies clinic for Dogs, Cats & Ferrets will be held today in Bainbridge.  The clinic will be held at the Village Garage from 5:30 to 6:30 PM, more information is available at 337-1673.
