The State Health Department announced 703 new positive cases of COVID 19 on Wednesday Statewide, slightly less than 1% of all those tested.  The State has had just under 419,000 cases since early March, there were 6 more deaths reported Wednesday, there have been 25,185 deaths from COVID 19 in New York.

Chenango County Public Health released their latest COVID 19 statistics today.  They remain at 212 cases, with 134 Active Quarantines, 1 Active Hospitalization, 189 Recoveries, 7 deaths & a Total of 17,454 Tests Performed.

The Broome County Health Department added 14 more positive cases of COVID 19 today, bringing their total since March TO 1043.  They no report 70 deaths, 848 recoveries, & 678 are being monitored by the Department; they have conducted over 30,300 tests.

Governor Cuomo officially became the chairman of the National Governor’s Association Wednesday, replacing Governor Larry Hogan of Maryland.  Cuomo served as Vice-Chairman under Hogan, he is the 1st New York Governor to become the Chairman of the Association, and Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchinson becomes the new Vice Chairman of the Association.

State Attorney General Letitia James filed a lawsuit seeking to dissolve the National Rifle Association for the illegal diversion of millions of dollars away from the mission of the organization for personal use by senior leadership, awarding contracts to the financial gain of close associates and family, trips to the Bahamas, private jets, expensive meals, and other private travel, the lawsuit seeks to shut down the NRA & recoup millions in lost assets and to stop the Wayne LaPierre & 3 other defendants from serving on the board of any not-for-profit charitable organization in New York again.

Casinos, Racinos Gyms and several other businesses have still not been given the go-ahead to re-open, when the last regions of the state reached Phase 4 a few weeks ago.  Todd Chandler is the Assistant General Manager & Regional Director of Marketing for Tioga Downs; he told WCDO News that they have taken all the precautions for reopening:

Chandler said that they have invested heavily in every type of disinfecting equipment and gear for the facilities & staff; he said that if they do not reopen by October 1st, the furloughed employees would officially become unemployed.

The State Division of Consumer Protection issued guidance to New Yorkers about Census takers who will be visiting homes that haven’t yet responded to the Census beginning this week.   The Office for New Americans is also hosting a Census Hotline Phone Bank Event this afternoon from 2:00 to 4:00 PM to provide information and answer questions about the Census.  The Hotline can be reached at 1-800-566-7636.

Delaware County Public Health received no new positive test results for COVID-19 Wednesday and 1 additional recovery has been reported. The known active cases in the County is now 1. To date there have been 96 confirmed positive cases, with 19 people under mandatory quarantine, 1 person is isolated at home, 6 people have died and 89 have fully recovered.

NYSEG announced that the company made significant progress in restoring power to customers impacted by the Tropical Storm.  More than 1,900 out of the total 21,151 impacted customers in the company’s Liberty division, which includes Delaware County, are without power. The company expects to restore 95% of customers impacted in the division by 11 p.m. tonight.

The Otsego County Health Department announces  free testing for COVID 19 on Today  from 9:00 AM to 12:00 Noon in the Town of Worcester Municipal Building at 19 Katie Lane.  This testing site is for people who are not sick, but want to be tested, by the nasal swab method.   This is a drive up testing site. Individuals will be required to remain in their vehicle and wear a mask when pulling up to the testing tent.  This testing site is for Otsego County residents only; registration is requested at 547-4279.
