Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested 33 year old Tyler Swart of Stamford on an Arrest Warrant for Grand Larceny, following an investigation into a stolen purse in the Town of Stamford in January.   Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies also charged Swart with Tampering with Physical Evidence and Petty Larceny, from a report of a stolen TV in the Town of Stamford in September of 2018.  Swart was arraigned & was remanded to the Delaware County Correctional Faculty without bail pending future court action.

Delaware County District Attorney John Hubbard announced that a woman, who illegally received over $137,000 in benefits, has returned that money to the Department of Social Services.  49 year old Sheryl Arduini failed to report her family’s entire income & received SNAP, Heap & other benefits that she was not entitled too.  Hubbard said that investigations led to 39 disqualifications which led to the return of over $507,000 in benefits being returned to the county in the last year and a half.

Governor Cuomo signed legislation, sponsored by local State Senator Jen Metzger, to increase health and safety standards in animal care for all pet dealers. The bill sets guidelines for sanitary living enclosures, food receptacles, annual veterinary examinations, regular grooming, and separate spaces for pregnant dogs for sufficient room to nurse and care for a litter, it will also require that primary enclosures for animals must be cleaned daily and sanitized every two weeks.

Assemblyman Cliff Crouch announced today that the 4 libraries in the 122nd Assembly District have received funding through the State Library and State Department of Education for various construction projects and improvements. The funding derives from a $34 million capital fund set aside for public library construction and broadband internet projects that was secured in last year’s State Budget.   The 4 libraries awarded funding includes Guernsey Memorial Library in Norwich, Mary Wilcox Memorial Library in Whitney Point, Sidney Memorial Public Library& the Ogden Free Library in Walton.

State Attorney General Letitia James Announced that the City of Oneonta is 1 of 4 recipients of a $200,000 grant, to deal with abandoned or “zombie properties”   Oneonta has about 100 zombie properties currently.

Governor Cuomo signed Brianna’s Law Tuesday, to combat the more than 200 boating accidents a year statewide.  The bill is named for 11-year-old Brianna Lieneck of Long Island, who was killed in a boating accident in 2005.  Brianna’s Law will require all operators of power boats more than 10 years old to take an 8-hour course on boater safety.

The Raymond Corporation has earned the 2019 Supply & Demand Chain Executive’s 100 Top Supply Chain Transformations award.   Raymond was recognized for its partnership with Ginsberg’s Foods in the Hudson Valley, who updated its forklift operator training program by using the Raymond Virtual Reality Simulator to educate new forklift operators on best practices, allowing instructors to give real-time feedback and build upon important skills.
