Chenango County Sheriff’s Deputies responded today to a fatal 1 car motor vehicle accident on State Highway 206 near the intersection of County Road 2 in the Town of Greene. The investigation revealed that 19-year-old Kaleb Lorows of Willet lost control, left the roadway & struck a guard rail & then a tree. Lorows was pronounced deceased at the scene. The investigation into the cause of the motor vehicle accident is ongoing.

The Grandparent scams are being reported to local law enforcement again, where people call elderly residents, and relay an elaborate scenery in order to get money to bail out a loved one, Delaware county Sheriff Craig DuMond explains:

Sheriff DuMond said that if people get this kind of phone call, they should hang up & should never give out personal banking information to callers they do not know.

Governor Hochul is directing State Police to ramp up enforcement, Increase Interstate Coordination, and Partner with Law Enforcement in High-Theft Areas, to cut down on the theft of Catalytic Converters from vehicles. The governor signed new Legislation this year to impose restrictions on the Purchase, Sale, or Possession of Catalytic Converters & she Urges Local Governments To Access $20 Million in Funding for License Plate Readers, Surveillance Cameras, Other Anti-Theft Technology. The converters sell for between $100 and $300 per unit on the black market.

This week, Hartwick College hosts a three-day celebration that includes a conversation with a former U.S. presidential advisor, an academic symposium addressing the country’s rural-urban divide, a reception, athletic contests, and special events in celebration of the installation of Darren Reisberg as its 11th president. The Inauguration of President Reisberg, will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, under a tent on Frisbee Field.

The Otsego County Sheriff’s Office arrested 62 year old William Gates of Morris following an investigation into sexual abuse of minors. Gates was charged with Criminal Sexual Act, sexual abuse, Aggravated Sex Abuse, 3 counts of Forcible Touching & 2 counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child. Gates is accused of inappropriate contact with 2 minors who were residing at the residence, also, the investigation determined that Gates subjected an adult victim to multiple instances of sexual abuse by forcible compulsion. Gates was arraigned in Otsego County Centralized Arraignment and remanded to the Otsego County Correctional Facility on $5,000 cash bail or $25,000 bond.

Amphenol officials announced that they were committed to making sure that their employees are well compensated & they were surprised that the recent contract proposal was rejected in Saturday’s vote, after weeks of discussions and intensive negotiations, with representatives of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers Local 1529. Union Representative Kevin Weidman told WCDO News why 80% of the union members that voted, voted to strike:

Weidman said that union members on the picket lines are humbled by the community support, Amphenol’s officials stated that they are committed to immediately working to negotiate a reasonable resolution with the IAM.

The State Health Department reminds New Yorkers to get caught up on their flu vaccines & get vaccines & booster to protect against COVID 19. COVID positivity rates were still high statewide at 6.79%, and 9.4% in the Southern Tier. Patient Hospitalization were back up to 2,731, the number of Patients in an ICU was at 274, and Patients on ventilators are still are 92, there weer 25 death attributed to COVID last Friday.
