Two people were injured when a Pickup Truck & Oneonta City School Bus collided Monday afternoon at route 8 & Country Club Road. The driver of the pickup, 35 year old Benjamin Goodwin of Laurens was ticketed for running a red light, the unidentified bus driver & a driver’s aid suffered minor injuries in the crash & were taken to Fox Hospital, 3 children on the bus were not injured.

Oneonta Mayor Gary Herzig is expected to ask the Oneonta Common Council to re-name the Oneonta Municipal Airport in honor of former Oneonta Mayor & Businessman Sam Nader at their December 4th meeting. Nader rallied to have an airport established when he was mayor of Oneonta in the 60’s.

The National Baseball Hall Of Fame & Museum will celebrate the Boston Red Sox’s 2018 World Series championship through Autumn Glory, the annual tribute to the World Series Champions in Cooperstown. The exhibit is now open, it features artifacts from the Red Sox, including a bat used by World Series MVP Steve Pearce, A jersey worn by David Price, Game-worn glasses used by Joe Kelly, a Hoodie worn by Red Sox manager Alex Cora in Game 5 & a Helmet worn by Brock Holt. The Autumn Glory display will be up through the conclusion of the 2019 Major League Baseball postseason.

The State DEC is continuing with their investigation into the shooting deaths of 8 deer & the injury of a 9th one, in Otsego County last week in the town of Milford. So far, no arrests have been made.

The Bainbridge Glow Gun Held at General Clinton Park raised over $5400 for Bainbridge native Bob Jinks. Money was raised at the event, plus through a local Bottle & can Drive, the amount raised was 270% above the initial goal, according to organizer Heather Bucalos of Sidney.

State Police Superintendent George Beach announced the line of duty death of Trooper Jeremy VanNostrand this morning. Trooper VanNostrand was reporting to work at the State Police barracks in Fonda when he was involved in a motor vehicle crash at about 7:45 AM. The investigation revealed that Trooper VanNostrand was stopped in traffic in his personal vehicle, waiting to turn into the station, when he was rear-ended and pushed into oncoming traffic; he was transported to Albany Medical Center where he succumbed to his injuries. Trooper VanNostrand served with the State Police for 6 years, he is survived by his wife & daughter, and funeral arrangements will be announced shortly.

Sidney town officials announced that there will be a public open house at the new Town Facilities at 44 Grand Street in the village of Sidney this Saturday from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM. Tours of the Sidney Historical Society Museum will also be held, all are welcome to attend.

The Otsego County Health Department announced that a skunk has tested positive for rabies in Burlington Flats. 1 unvaccinated dog was exposed to the rabid skunk & will be euthanized, the next Otsego County Rabies clinic will be December 5th from 4:00 to 6:00 PM at the Susquehanna Animal Shelter.

Attorney General Barbara Underwood released the annual “Pennies for Charity: Where Your Money Goes; Fundraising by Professional Fundraisers” report, which found that nearly 1/3rd of charitable donations ended up in the pockets of professional fundraisers. In 2017, more than $1.18 billion was raised in New York State through 964 fundraising campaigns conducted by professional fundraisers on behalf of charities. The Binghamton Devils today announced they will be holding a the “Put the Biscuit in the Basket” food drive starting on Wednesday and running until Saturday, December 15, benefitting CHOW. Fans can bring in two or more non-perishable food items starting this Wednesday and receive a free ticket to a game on Saturday, December 1, Saturday, December 8, Saturday, December 15 or Friday, December 21st. Donations will be accepted every day during normal business hours at the Binghamton Devils front office, and on game days at the front office and the credential table on the first floor.
