33 Year old Kevin Wilcox of Harpursville pleaded guilty to aggravated vehicular homicide for a Binghamton crash March 11th that killed 16 year old pedestrian Harper Stantz & injured 19 year old Britney Laserinko.  Wilcox admitted to being on Suboxone when he drove his vehicle onto the sidewalk & struck the 2 teens.  Wilcox was sentenced to 5 to 15 years in prison this morning in Broome County Court.

Officials with the Greater Chenango Cares IRT events in Chenango County & Cortland County last week, announced that combined, they saw 3,500 patients, who received over 21,000 procedures, at no cost to patients.  Services included medical, dental, eye care & veterinary services over the 10 day events.

The City of Oneonta will be replacing catch basins on Wednesday and Thursday at the intersection of Center Street and Draper Street.  Work to begin at 7:00am & end at 3:30 pm each day, motorists can expect  traffic disruptions.  More information is available at 432-2100.

Governor Cuomo has signed the “Revenge Porn” bill into law, making it a misdemeanor  offense.  The law will defines “revenge porn” as the unlawful dissemination or publication of an intimate image, with the intent to cause harm to the emotional, financial, or physical welfare of another person and when the image was taken with a reasonable expectation that it would remain private. It was also allow victims of “revenge porn” to seek civil recourse for the damages. Those convicted could face penalties up to a year in jail.

Delaware County Public Health announced that they are looking for participants for a focus group in Sidney on July 29th from 2:00 to 3:00 PM in the Sidney Library Smart Community room.  The focus group will discuss challenges & strengths of the community in meeting family needs, more information is available at 832-5200.

Several Otsego County Fire departments responded shortly before 12:00 noon today for a structure fire at the intersection of Hathaway Road & Beaver Lake Lane in the town of Laurens.  Fire fighters from Laurens, West Laurens, and Mount Vision responded,   WCDO News will have more information as it becomes available.

Town of Vernon Code Officials in Oneida County rejected the promoters of Woodstock 50’s 3rd application for a permit to hold the 3 day concert at Vernon Downs.   Officials said that the  Application was filed after 120 day deadline passed, & that the Public Health, Safety, Traffic, Parking & Security concerns for an event that size were not properly addressed.  The event is supposed to be held from August 16 through August 18, on the 50th anniversary of the original festival in Bethel, it was rejected previously in Watkins Glen, before the latest rejection in Vernon.

Governor Cuomo today signed legislation banning the performance of declawing procedures on cats, making New York the first state to prohibit the practice. Declawing involves the removal of all or most of the last bone of each of the toes of the front feet, and tendons, nerves and ligaments that allow for normal function of the paw are severed, resulting in pain and other serious medical or behavioral issues. The bill takes effect immediately.
