Chenango County Public Health announced that they are at 245 total positive cases of COVID 19 since March.  They currently have 6 Active Cases, 1 person is hospitalized, 104 are quarantined, and there have been 7 deaths & 215 recoveries.

The Otsego County Sheriff’s Deputy, who allegedly accidentally discharged his weapon in an Oneida county restaurant Saturday night, has put on a leave of absence.  A child and a woman suffered minor injuries when the bullet ricocheted off of the floor in Camden New York, State Police are investigating the incident, and the name of the deputy has not been released.

State Comptroller Tom DiNapoli announced that former Delhi Deputy Highway Superintendent Brian Rosenthal was charged with 3rd degree Grand Larceny last week, for allegedly overstating his sick leave by more than 270 hours, worth about $6,000.  Rosenthal was charged following a joint investigation by DiNapoli, State Police and the Delaware County District Attorney’s office.

2 Otsego County residents charged in a string of armed robberies & burglaries in April, appeared in Otsego County court Friday.  41 Year old Brian Ruple of Oneonta & 41 year old Derrick Gray of Laurens are accused of a break in at Losie’s Gun Shop, and armed robberies at Oneonta & Otego convenience stores in April, pleaded not guilty to a variety of robbery & assault charges, they face court action at a later date.

NYSEG is urging customers to be vigilant of scammers posing as representatives of the energy company, after they received reports of customers having accepted calls from people who claim to be NYSEG employees.  The new scam attempts reportedly involve a call explaining that an overcharge has been made to the customer’s account and offer a future bill credit, with the caller asking for personal information.   Customers have also reported calls threatening to cut service unless an immediate payment is made over the phone.  NYSEG officials said that customer service will never demand customers to purchase debit cards such as Green Dot cards to make payments, anyone with questions should contact NYSEG by using the phone numbers on their monthly bill.

Volunteers are needed to assist with the Catholic Charities community food distribution Thursday in Sidney.  Those who would like to volunteer are advised to send an email to office@sidneychamber.org, they should arrive to the Sidney Fire department site on River Street by 8:30 AM Thursday, and the food giveaway begins at 10:00 AM.

Delaware County is reporting no new positive test result for COVID-19 and 4 additional recoveries. The known active cases in the County as of today is 3, all 3 are isolated at home. To date there have been 117 confirmed positive cases of COVID19 in Delaware County, with 65 people now under mandatory quarantine, 6 people have died and 108 have fully recovered.

Otsego County Department of Health announced that there will be free rapid testing at the Armory in Oneonta from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM today & Wednesday. Pre-registration is required by calling 547-4279.  The Otsego County Current COVID numbers:  683 confirmed cases linked to SUNY Oneonta,  15 confirmed cases in Hartwick College students,  45 active cases currently residing in the county, there have been  841 total confirmed cases, there are no hospitalizations.
