A virtual “Glow Run” has been organized for a young woman from Bainbridge who is going through a form of Cancer, local Cancer survivor & Glow Run Organizer Heather Bucalos told WCDO News about the Bainbridge Glow Run Virtual 60 Mile Challenge called “Glow For Amanda”:

The Oneonta Common Council voted Tuesday night to name Christopher Witzenburg as Chief of Police, replacing Douglas Brenner, who retired earlier this year. Witzenburg has served as interim chief; he has been with the Oneonta Police Department for 23 years. The Common Council also approved of the Police Reform & Reinvention plan for the Oneonta Police Department.

State Police arrested 30 year old Matthew Appley of Fish’s Eddy for Reckless Endangerment & Criminal Possession of a Weapon. Troopers from Deposit were dispatched to a disturbance on South Main Street in Fish’s Eddy, Appley is accused of firing a weapon at 2 vehicles, no one was injured but 2 vehicles were damaged. Troopers located Appley and he was arrested without incident, he was arraigned by a judge & was remanded to the Delaware County Jail on $25,000 bond.

The Raymond Corporation observed National Manufacturing Day with more than 2,500 student registrants from around the country during an interactive digital event on October 1st, 2021. Candidates running for office in Norwich and Chenango County will meet with their prospective constituents at a public candidates’ forum later this month. The forum will take place from 1:00 to 4:00 PM on Sunday, October 17th at the Norwich American Legion Hall at 29 Sheldon Street in Norwich.

Governor Kathy Hochul announced a plan to expand healthcare worker vaccine mandates to include employees that work in the Officer of Mental Health and the Office for People with Developmental Disabilities. Employees in these agencies will need to show proof of a least 1 dose of the COVID-19 vaccine by November 1st, they will not have the option to receive weekly COVID testing. The requirement will apply to all employees who work at psychiatric hospitals and those working at specialty hospitals. Tomorrow, a previously enacted vaccine requirement will take effect for personnel at adult-care facilities, long-term health care programs, AIDS home care programs, hospice care along with other similar programs.

Broome County District Attorney Mike Korchak announced today that Lisa Stevens of Glen Aubrey was sentenced to 2 1/2 to 7 years in prison, for 2nd degree Grand Larceny. Stevens was accused of taking money from clients while working as a travel agent, and failing to deliver either refunds or services to the clients, amounting to over $100,000. Stevens faces similar charges connected to that Larceny in Onondaga County.

Governor Kathy Hochul today announced that about $149 million in federal aid has been distributed to counties statewide to help older New Yorkers meet basic needs, remain in their homes and communities, slow the spread of the COVID-19 virus, and get vaccinated. The Southern Tier Counties of Broome, Chenango and Delaware will share $5,401,414 in funding.

The Village of Sidney Police Department conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle that officers observed commit several traffic infractions, 36 year old Jason Katalinas was charged with Felony DWI, Aggravated unlicensed operation, Use of vehicle without interlock device, Failure to submit to a breath test, Failure to keep right, he was released on appearance tickets to appear in Village of Sidney Court at a later date.

The Bainbridge American Legion will host a “Meet & Greet” in the meeting room at the back of Bob’s Dinner AT 6:00 pm tonight. All area Military Service Veterans are invited to attend. An overview will be presented which will focus on what the Bainbridge American Legion does for the community.
