Governor Cuomo and members of his administration outlined the State budget plan, which should be passed into law by the end of the day today, the Governor Said that the first Post COVID Budget extends well beyond the 1 fiscal year that it covers:

The State Operating Funds spends is $111 billion, the total budget is a record $212 billion; it includes 12.6 billion in federal aid, $29.5 billion in School Aid, which is an 11% increase.  The budget provides $7.7 billion in State support for higher education includes a $311 billion infrastructure plan and allows for a system to be put in place for recreational marijuana use.

Chenango County Public Health announced their latest COVID 19 Numbers today.  They have 103 active cases, 343 quarantines and 7 hospitalized.  They have had an even 2900 cases since the pandemic started, with 2635 recoveries and 68 deaths.

COVID Numbers statewide continue to creep back up again.  The State Health Department reported that on Monday, hospitalizations rose to 4,533. 4.33% of all tested were positive, and There were 937 patients in ICU bed, which was an increase of 31, the number of ventilators went up slightly to 591 & 47 New Yorkers died from the virus.

Catholic Charities & several other organizations are teaming up for a mass food distribution in Sidney April 20th.  Catholic Charities Spokesperson penny McKnight explains:

McKnight said that volunteers are needed at the event; people can call Catholic Charites at their Sidney office at 607-604-4071.  Last Year’s events distributed 9 tons of food at the first event in June; subsequent distributions gave out 12 tons of food.

Registration is now open for the 10th annual I Love My Park Day, which will be held over the weekend of May 1 and May 2, 2021 at state parks, historic sites and public lands across New York. The event, sponsored by the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation, Parks & Trails New York and the Department of Environmental Conservation, is a statewide event to enhance parks, historic sites and public lands and raise awareness and visibility to the state outdoor recreation assets and their needs.  Registration is available at ptny.org/events/i-love-my-park-day

A.M. NEWS WEDNESDAY 4-7-21

State Police are investigating an officer-involved shooting that occurred in the city of Oneonta Tuesday at approximately 1:00 pm.   Oneonta Police Department responded to a report of a domestic incident on River Street, Police encountered a male subject armed with a knife. During the course of the engagement with the subject, an officer fired his duty weapon, striking the subject. The subject was airlifted to Albany Medical Center, where he later died; the circumstances of the incident are under investigation.

Delaware County Public Health reported 16 new COVID cases Tuesday out of 168 tested.  They have 149 active cases, 7 hospitalized & 255 quarantined.  Delaware County Public Health will be conducting a first dose Moderna COVID-19 vaccination clinic on Thursday at 97 Main Street Delhi from 1:00 to 5:00 PM.  Registration is mandatory, at apps2.health.ny.gov/doh2
