On Tuesday, Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to a serious personal injury 2 car Accident on Covered Bridge Road in the Town of Sidney. Deputies discovered that 1 of the vehicles in the crash was sheered into 2 separate pieces. Deputies also discovered that the occupants of both vehicles had been wearing their seat-belts, and that no occupant had been ejected from either vehicle. 4 patients were transported from the scene, one patient was later transferred to Upstate Medical Center for a higher level of care. State Police at Norwich are investigating a reported domestic incident that led to the stabbing of two individuals in the town of Otselic early this morning. The victims were transported to a local hospital for treatment and are currently in stable condition. There is no threat to the public. The suspect was taken into custody by members of the New York State Police. More information will be provided when it is available.

The State Department of Labor announced their Southern Tier Region Virtual Career Fair, being held on Thursday, October 20th from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm, for job seekers in the Southern Tier Counties of Chenango, Delaware, Otsego & Broome counties. Delaware County Sheriff’s Office arrested 27 year old Dustin Roberts of Stamford for Aggravated Unlicensed Operator & leaving the scene of an accident. On September 21st, Deputies were dispatched to a hit & run accident in Stamford. During the course of the investigation it was learned that Roberts was the driver of the vehicle that left the scene, he also had a suspended driver’s license. Roberts is scheduled to appear before the Town of Stamford Court at a later date.

Broome County District Attorney Mike Korchak announced that 24 year old Derek McNeil of Binghamton was sentenced to 5 years in jail followed by 5 years post release supervision, following guilty pleas to 2nd degree assault & criminal mischief, for choking an 18 year old female in Binghamton in March, and breaking a window in May, causing $250 damage.

The State DOT will hold a public hearing today at 5:30 pm. to discuss plans to enhance safety at 4 sites on State Route 8 in the towns of Columbus, New Berlin and Norwich. The proposed project will widen traffic lanes and shoulders, improve sight distances, reduce curvature in the roadway, The hearing will take place at the Unadilla Valley Central School Auditorium. Otsego County Sheriff’s Office arrested 43 year old Jason Gray of Bainbridge after violating a court protection ordered. Gray was charged with Criminal Contempt, following an investigation into a violation of an Order of Protection by contacting the protected party through electronic means, the defendant is scheduled to appear in the Town of Unadilla Court at a later date.
