The 4 members of the National Baseball Hall of Fame, Class of 2020 were inducted Today in Cooperstown. Ted Simmons was inducted first, excelling for the Saint Louis Cardinals & Milwaukee Brewers:

The 2nd player inducted today was Larry Walker, who excelled with the Montreal Expos, Colorado Rockies & St. Louis Cardinals, who is only the 2nd Canadian to be inducted into the baseball Hall of Fame, after Fergie Jenkins:

The 3rd Player inducted today was Derek Jeter of the New York Yankees, who ended his speech with a message to today’s young players:

Also Inducted today was Major League Baseball Players Association Union Executive Director, the Late Marvin Miller, who led the union from 1966 to 1982. Today’s induction brings the total number of Hall of Famers to 333. The Induction Ceremony will be shown live on the MLB Network or MLB.Com.

Governor Kathy Hochul today announced the launch of the statewide #VaxtoSchool campaign to support increasing the COVID-19 vaccination rates among school-aged New Yorkers. The Governor announced a new, dedicated website at ny.gov/vaxtoschool with resources and materials for parents and guardians of school-aged New Yorkers and school communities, with information, frequently asked questions for parents and guardians, the State has launched a new Instagram channel, @VaccinateNY, about the COVID-19 vaccine directly.

The Sidney Police Department arrested 37 year old Jamie Benham following several ongoing criminal investigations in the Village of Sidney. Benham was located on an active arrest warrant and charged with 2nd degree Burglary, plus Conspiracy, Criminal Mischief, Petty Larceny & Criminal trespass, following a larceny investigation, separate from the arrest warrant investigation, Benham was arraigned in Village of Sidney Court where she was remanded to the Delaware County Jail on $5,000 cash bail or $10,000 bond.

Chenango County Public Health released their latest COVID 19 statistics today; they report 95 active cases, with 24 cases vaccinated. They have 181 people in quarantine, 7 are hospitalized, 1 is vaccinated, Chenango County has had 3985 cases with 82 deaths & 3724 recoveries since the pandemic began.

The Gilbertsville Mount Upton School District held their Open House & opened up their new Bassett Healthcare Network Health Center & on-campus apparel store Last Night. Among those in attendance were retired State Senator Jim Seward, Current State Senator Peter Oberacker, & Bassett Healthcare Network President and CEO Dr. Tommy Ibrahim. The GMU School district returns for classes on Thursday.

State Police in Troop C announced that they removed 40 impaired drivers from local roadways in the month of August. Troop C encompasses Broome, Chenango, Cortland, Delaware, Otsego, Tioga and Tompkins Counties.

Former area Congressional candidate and army veteran Kyle Van De Water has been found dead by Poughkeepsie police, the 41-year-old was found in a Poughkeepsie Cemetery. Van De Water lost to Congressman Antonio Delgado in the 2020 election in the 19th Congressional District last year, the investigation is ongoing.
