Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies investigated a 2-car property damage motor vehicle accident at the intersection of River Road and Interstate 88 access road in the Town of Sidney.  A vehicle operated by 64 year old Michael Sisson of Oneonta, was making a left turn off River Road and pulled into the path of a vehicle operated by 59 year old Mark Hopper of Wells Bridge.  Sisson was issued a traffic ticket for fail to yield right of way.

Otsego county residents & businesses will have their household hazardous waste collections today & tomorrow for those who have pre-registered.  The first collection site will be today at the Unadilla town highway building; the second will be at the Meadows office building in Cooperstown tomorrow.  Businesses may participate by bringing their hazardous materials to the Meadows today, and fees may apply.  More information is available at 547-4228.

A panel of arbitrators threw out the tobacco industry’s $800 million claim against New York and ordered the companies to pay New York State more than $92 million that they had wrongfully withheld from their 2003 annual payment due under the 1998 tobacco canadameds.com Master Settlement Agreement. The judges rejected tobacco’s demand for a dramatic reduction in its annual payment to New York, finding the State had fully complied with its agreement obligations and was entitled to its entire payment. The decision is expected to protect the State from billions of dollars in future claims.
