3 SUNY Delhi Students were arrested on Sealed Indictment Warrants following a 3-month investigation conducted by the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division with the assistance of the Delaware County Probation Department and SUNY Delhi University Police Department. 21-year-old Jerome Swaggard of Brooklyn was arrested for 3rd & 4th degree Criminal Sale of Marihuana, 21-year-old Matthew Balzano of Chester was arrested on 2 counts of Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance, for allegedly selling a hallucinogenic substance known as “Molly”. Also charged was 20 year old  Robert Plaut of Farmingdale for 2 counts of 3rd degree Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance & 1 count of 5th degree Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance, for allegedly selling “Mollies”.  All 3 were arraigned in Delaware County Court and were held without bail pending future court appearances. More arrests are anticipated.

The Broome County Special Investigations Unit Task Force arrested 26-year-old Heather Brower of Bainbridge on Friday on 2 counts of prostitution, plus 1 count each of criminal possession of a controlled substance and criminally possessing a hypodermic instrument.   Brower was charged after she allegedly agreed to perform sexual acts with undercover detectives in exchange for money, upon arrest, she was found to have hypodermic needles & a small amount of heroin.  She was also wanted on active arrest warrants in the Village of Johnson City Court and the Town of Dickinson Court.  Brower has been remanded to the Broome County Sheriff’s Correctional Facility.

32-year-old Benjamin Ildefonso  of Walton was sentenced in Delaware County Court to serve 3 consecutive, 4-year prison sentences after being convicted on 3 charges of Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance.   Ildefonso was also ordered to pay a $3,000 fine as well as restitution to the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office, a court surcharge, DNA fee and Crime Victim Assistance fee.

The Delaware County Sheriff Deputies investigated a 1-car motor vehicle accident on Lower Third Brook Road in the Town of Walton. 42 year old Karin Hamlin of Walton was issued a traffic ticket to appear in the Town of Walton court on May 29th after the vehicle she was operating on Lower Third Brook Road slid out of control striking the guide rail causing damage to the guide rail, then crossing over the opposite side of the roadway and becoming stuck in a ditch.  No injuries were reported.

Motorists are advised that the State Route 7 southbound on-ramp to Interstate 81 southbound is closed today.  Motorists traveling south will be detoured to State Street to Bevier Street onto Broad Street, then to the Interstate on-ramp on Broad Street.  Motorists are advised that State Route 17 between exit 71 and  72 will be reduced to one lane in both directions today, from  9:00 AM to 3:00 PM for work related to the Kamikaze Curve area projects.
