NYSEG announced has provided $7.43 million of assistance to 158 nonresidential customers in 18 counties that suffered damage from Hurricane Irene and Tropical Storm Lee in 2011. The grants were provided to customers in Broome, Tioga, Delaware, Greene and Ulster counties.  The programs included The Emergency Community/Municipality Assistance Program to help offset the cost of repairing or replacing customer-owned electricity and natural gas infrastructure. Grants up to $100,000 were awarded, the Emergency Building Redevelopment & Revitalization Assistance Program to help offset recovery costs incurred by commercial customers with Grants up to $200,000 awarded, & the Emergency Agriculture Assistance Program to help offset the cost of repairing or replacing customer-owned electricity and natural gas infrastructure at smaller farms and agri-businesses, with Grants up to $50,000 were awarded.

Congressman Chris Gibson of the new 19th district will be holding an Open House at the Cooperstown District Office today from 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM.  The office is located at 25 Chestnut Street in Cooperstown, Refreshments will be served.  The office will assist constituents with veteran’s benefits, Social Security, Medicare, immigration, IRS, active duty, & Reserve or National Guard issues, Service Academy Nominations.

The city of Oneonta board of public service will hold their next regular meeting today.  The meeting will beheld in the common council chambers at Oneonta city hall beginning at 4:00 PM, they are scheduled to discuss possible unsafe conditions at 32 Cliff Street.

The Bainbridge-Guilford Central School will hold a Board of Education Meeting today in the District Conference Room to discuss district business. The meeting will begin at 6:00 PM with committee meetings. The business portion of the meeting will start at 7:30 PM.
