2 storms systems are expected to collide Friday & into early Saturday over the Northeast, bring snow to the region.  Area Meteorologist Rich Townsend told WCDO News what he expects:

Significantly more snow is expected along the northeast coast, from the storm that has been named “Winter storm Nemo”

The Chenango County Sheriff’s Office responded to a residence on South State Street in Norwich to execute a bench warrant issued by Town of Norwich Court. 6 people were arrested, including 32-year-old Cheryl Myers of Norwich for False personation and failure to appear on a prior charge of petit larceny. Also charged were 34-year-old Sean Beam of Norwich, 32-year-old Eric Carpenter of Plymouth, 18-year-old Lexus Armstrong of Oxford, 34-year-old Nadine Button of Norwich and an unidentified 16-year-old youth, all for Obstruction of Governmental Administration.  Myers was arraigned and sent to the Chenango County Jail on $500 bail pending future court action, the other 5 defendants were issued appearance tickets and will appear in City of Norwich Court at a later date.

State Police conducted an Underage Drinker Initiative detail at 16 different convenience stores in Otsego and Delaware Counties.  50-year-old Eugene Rowell, at the Hess Express on Main Street in Oneonta, and 21-year-old James Erwin at the Sunoco Country Store in Delhi, were charged with Underage Sale of Alcohol.  Rowell was issued an Appearance ticket for City of Oneonta Court on February 13th.  Erwin was issued an Appearance ticket will appear in Delhi Court on February 12th.

State police in Sidney arrested 46-year-old Scott Meyerholz of Bradenton, Florida, for Driving While Under the Influence of Drugs. The arrest was the result of a motor vehicle accident investigation in Masonville; Meyerholz was arraigned in the Town of Masonville Court and remanded to the Delaware County Jail in lieu of $2,500 cash bail.

Chenango county sheriff’s deputies arrested 45 year old Kevin Bush of Lincklaen for DWI, Unlawful Possession of Marihuana, open container in a motor vehicle and failure to keep right following a traffic stop on County Rd 12B in the Town of Lincklaen.   Bush was issued an appearance ticket for Town of Lincklaen court at a later date. Bush was released to a sober third party.

The Oxford Village Board voted in favor of Chenango county’s first hydrofracking ban.  The ban passed by a 4 to 1 vote; it calls for the banning of gas exploration, extraction and disposal within the village.  Several other municipalities in Chenango county are contemplating similar bans currently.

The Chenango county sheriffs department arrested 21-year-old Ethan Rounds of South Otselic on an active arrest warrant issued for 2nd degree Criminal Contempt.  Rounds allegedly used vulgar and offensive language during an official court proceeding in the Town of Otselic court after being warned, he was remanded to the Chenango County Correctional facility on $5,000 cash bail and will re-appear in court at a later date.

The latest Sienna Poll shows that the proposed Casino Amendment is supported by a 48% to 42% margin.  The measure requires passage in 2 consecutive sessions of the state legislature, followed by voter approval on the November ballot; the legislature did pass it in year number 1 last year.  Governor Cuomo suggests that the majority of casinos would be in the Catskill region & Hudson valley, in order to take advantage of the proximity to New York City’s population.
