A.M. NEWS FRIDAY 2-15-13

It was another contentious Sidney Town Board meeting last night at the Civic Center.  Attendance dictated that the board move the meeting to room 202 from the first floor boardroom.  Notable items at last nights meeting included problems with town employees getting paid in a timely fashion, the board decided that the January 10th meeting called by New town councilman Tobi Whitaker was illegally called, making that night’s vote on a gas drilling moratorium illegal.  Town attorney Joe Ermeti and Attorney David Slottje, who was hired to counsel regarding the gas drilling moratorium, disagreed on items of state law regarding town boards, A public hearing was hastily allowed after normal town business, councilman Eric Wilson left, items were submitted to the board for consideration during the public hearing, before a new vote on the controversial moratorium, those items were ignored and a new vote of 3 to 1 was cast for the moratorium, which may or may not hold up if challenged in court.  At the conclusion of the meeting, town attorney Joe Ermeti had no comment about the meeting.
