The Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies investigated a 1-vehicle fatal motor vehicle accident Sunday in the Town of Delhi. 18-year-old Michael Ackerman of South Kortright was operating a pick up truck Northbound on State Hwy 10 the vehicle failed to negotiate a curve and left the roadway, struck a tree and caught fire. Ackerman was killed in the crash; the cause of the crash is still under investigation.

Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies assisted by K-9 “Ozzie” executed a Search Warrant in the Town of Franklin Thursday, at Snake Hill Road.  A search of the property led to the seizure of 7 marihuana plants, several drying marihuana plants, approximately one ounce of processed marihuana, a quantity of hashish, drug paraphernalia and several long guns.   Deputies arrested 33-year-old Lee March of Otego for Criminal Possession of Marihuana and Unlicensed Cultivation of Marihuana; he was arraigned in the Town of Hamden Court and was released on recognizance pending further court action.

State senator Jim Seward & Oneonta Mayor Dick Miller unveiled a plan to make Oneonta’s lights more efficient.  Seward mentioned the plan at an Oneonta press conference Friday:

The legislative grant obtained by Senator Seward, included in a 2012 senate resolution, is being used to replace outdated high pressure sodium street lights with new energy-efficient LED fixtures.  The new “green” fixtures will provide substantial energy savings for the City of Oneonta and will also reduce long-term maintenance costs.

State troopers arrested 46-year-old Michael Clark of Port Crane for 3rd degree assault & endangering the welfare of a child.   The arrest followed the report made to the Broome County Child Protective Services, where Clark is accused of striking & injuring a 9 year old victim.   Clark was arraigned in the town of Fenton court and remanded to the Broome county jail in lieu of $1500 bail.

Delaware County Sheriff Deputy’s investigated a one-car roll over motor vehicle accident on State Highway 97 in the Town of Hancock.  Deputies arrested 36-year-old Matthew Buehler of Olympia Washington For Aggravated DWI, as Buehler registered a BAC of .22%. Buelher was also ticketed for speed not reasonable and prudent, he was released & will appear in the Town of Hancock Court on October 7th.

Tax revenues for the first five months of the state fiscal year were $69.8 million over updated budget projections, according to State Comptroller Tom DiNapoli. Year-to-date tax collections are up 10.3 percent from the same period last year, due to strong Personal Income Tax collections, which are up by more than 13%.
