Chenango County Sheriff’s Office arrested 32 year old Jentre Bergman of McGraw for Robbery. On September 23rd, Bergman allegedly went to a residence in the Town of German, where he forcefully stole a Harley-Davidson motorcycle by pointing a shotgun at the victim & fled the scene on the motorcycle. An arrest warrant was then issued for Bergman, who was arrested by the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office and held in their facility on un-related charges. Bergman was then transported to the Chenango County Sheriff’s Office where he was processed for charges of Robbery, Grand Larceny, and Menacing, he was arraigned in the Town of German Court where bail was set at $5,000. Bergman was then transported back to the Cortland County Correctional Facility where he is being held.

40 year old Cory Kujawski of Burlington Flats was indicted by an Otsego County Grand Jury. State Police arrested Kujawski, for 3 counts of Predatory Sexual Assault Against a Child, 2 counts of Course of Sexual Conduct Against a Child & 1 count of Criminal Sexual Act, he is accused of inappropriate sexual contact with a child under the age of 13 on several occasions, he was arraigned and released on his own recognizance & was referred to Otsego County probation.

State Police arrested 39 year old Antoine Laporte of Buffalo for Criminal Possession of a Weapon after a Trooper observed a vehicle traveling at an excessive speed, The Trooper attempted to catch up to the vehicle but lost sight of the car, the trooper ended up finding the vehicle rolled over at the bottom of the East Branch exit ramp. Laporte walking on Harvard Road, he fled but was eventually detained, Laporte had multiple warrants for Assault and Larceny in Erie County and in the state of New Jersey, troopers also located a weapon in the wrecked vehicle. Laporte was transported to Wilson Hospital for a medical evaluation, he was released & was turned over to the Delaware County Correctional Facility for arraignment.

Former President Donald Trump is set to testify today at his New York civil fraud trial, and threatens to cost him control of properties such as Trump Tower. His testimony in the trial of New York Attorney General Letitia James’ lawsuit follows that of his eldest sons, Eric and Donald Trump Jr., who testified last week. Governor Kathy Hochul today announced that since early January, when mobile sports wagering became available in New York, the State has collected $542 million in taxes through the week ending October 30, far surpassing every other state in the nation. 43 year old Ray Hyer of Unadilla was arrested in Ohio after he failed to appear in n Otsego County court earlier this year for sentencing on a criminal sexual act charge. Hyer was located in Sandusky, Ohio on October 21st, he was arrested and was extradited back to the Otsego County Jail, he faces additional charges on top of the original criminal sexual act conviction.

Broome County officials are investigating the death of an inmate in the Broome County Jail on Friday. 30 year-old Mitchell Lindow of Binghamton was being held on a murder charge when he was found deceased by Corrections officers conducting a head count, an autopsy was conducted Friday, no cause of death was determined.

State Police responded Wednesday to a report of a serious SUV Rollover crash in the town of Plainfield. State Police conducted an Underage Drinking Initiative throughout Chenango County Tuesday and all businesses checked were in compliance. Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies observed a vehicle traveling at 57 mph while in a posted 30 mph speed zone Sunday. Deputies identified the driver as 21 year-old Nicholas Wanamaker of Maybrook, a check of Wanamaker’s driver’s license revealed that his driving privileges were suspended in the State of New York. Governor Kathy Hochul reported that the numbers are slowly improving regarding COVID 19 in the state Saturday. over 166,000 were tested Saturday, with 3588 positives, for a positivity rate of 2.1% Patient Hospitalization are down to 1,842, the number of Patients in an ICU is down to 448 & the number on ventilators is down to 253, there were 26 deaths reported in hospitals & nursing homes Saturday.

Governor Kathy Hochul signed legislation designating a portion of State Route 51 in the Town of Butternuts as SP4 Richard F. Walton, Jr. Memorial Highway. Richard Walton, Jr. was born and raised in the Town of Butternuts, he underwent basic training and medical training after enlisting, he volunteered to go to Vietnam, On February 6th, 1970, while serving in Vietnam, Walton lost his life in a helicopter crash.

Governor Cuomo signed legislation to prohibit pharmacies and retails stores from selling cold medications containing Dextromethorphan to anyone under 18 unless they have a prescription.    The new law addresses the problem of teens using the cough suppressant to get high, its use & abuse could lead to short and long term health risks including agitation, paranoia, hallucinations, and even death.  All retail establishments selling DXM will be required to request proof of age unless the customer appears to be more than 25 years of age, or they could be subject to a fine of $250 for each violation.

The state Health Department opened its hotline to help customers sign up for New York’s health-care exchange. The enrollment period runs from October 1^st through March 31^st.  The exchange will provide health insurance to at least 1 million uninsured New Yorkers as part of the federal Affordable Care Act. The program will provide tax credits for individuals with incomes under $45,960 and families of four with incomes less than $94,200.
