Some work may continue behind permanent concrete barriers or for emergency repairs.

State Police are currently investigating a fatal accident that had occurred at about 3:52 a.m., this morning on Interstate Route 81 northbound, between the Marathon and McGraw exits. This accident involves a tractor-trailer and a car. The driving lane is currently closed due to the investigation but traffic can continue in the passing lane.

Broome County District Attorney Steve Cornwell announced that 49 year old Michael Gumaer pleaded guilty today In Broome County Court to 1st Degree Rape. Gumaer was arrested following the report of an attack on a 12-year-old Girl in August 2016 in Endicott. Gumaer will be sentenced on February 17th, 2017.

38-year-old Justin Barkley told a judge in Tompkins County Court that believed that he was shooting President Elect Donald Trump, at the Ithaca Wal-Mart parking lot on December 8th, and not UPS Driver William Schumacher. The judge has ordered Barkley to undergo a mental evaluation, to determine if Barkley is competent to stand trial. Barkley was taken into police custody after fleeing the scene, shooting at Police & engaging law enforcement in a standoff.

The recent “Selfies With Elfies” for Sarah fundraiser, raised over $750 dollars with events in Bainbridge & Afton. The money raised assisted Sarah Richardson has stage 4 Liver Cancer, & is the mother of a 3-year-old boy, Organizer Heather Bucalos is also a cancer survivor and she told WCDO News that she will continue to plan local fundraisers for those battling cancer & facing rising medical costs.

State Police responded Monday & Tuesday of this week to the Afton School, after written Bomb Threats were found in bathrooms, and were reported to the district office. Police found no sign of bombs, the school was in lockdown today during the search. No arrests have been made & the investigation is ongoing.

The city of Oneonta announced that Judy Pangman has been appointed as Director of Community Development. Pangman was temporarily appointed in October, pending a review of Civil Service Requirements, the appointment was made permanent at last night’s common Council meeting.

The jobs comprised more than 18 percent of all private sector employment in the state. Nonprofit groups in New York showed employment growth of 5.6 percent from 2007 to 2012. In 2012, when nonprofits paid over $532 billion in wages nationwide, New York nonprofits ranked first in the country, paying nearly $62 billion in total wages.

McKinnely was transported by LifeNet to Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse with severe head and body injuries; he succumbed to the injuries earlier today.
