Dr. Carlton Rule has informed Bassett Hospital leadership that he will step down as CEO of O’Connor Hospital in Delhi and Tri-Town Regional Hospital in Sidney effective March 1, 2017. Dr. Rule will pursue a professional opportunity with the Ellis Medical Group in Schenectady.

State Police reported that 16-year-old Delany Ramos of was found safe in Rochester late Tuesday Night. Ramos was reported missing from the Oneonta Job Corps early Tuesday Morning; she was discovered safe in Rochester.

State Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie of the Bronx has been re-elected to serve as the Speaker next year. Heastie was chosen to become Speaker of the Assembly after long time Speaker Sheldon Silver was arrested & convicted on corruption charges.

The city of Oneonta announced that Judy Pangman has been appointed as Director of Community Development. Pangman was temporarily appointed in October, pending a review of Civil Service Requirements, the appointment was made permanent at last night’s common Council meeting.

New York State ranked first nationwide in nonprofit jobs and organizations, with nearly 1.3 million employees and more than 31,000 organizations in 2012, according to a report released today by State Comptroller Tom DiNapoli. The jobs comprised more than 18 percent of all private sector employment in the state. Nonprofit groups in New York showed employment growth of 5.6 percent from 2007 to 2012. In 2012, when nonprofits paid over $532 billion in wages nationwide, New York nonprofits ranked first in the country, paying nearly $62 billion in total wages.
