Norwich City Police & Chenango County Sheriff’s Deputies executed a ‘No Knock’ search warrant Thursday, police arrested 26 year old Todd Diamond & 24 year old Brittany Dunagan of Norwich for Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance, Criminal Nuisance & Endangering the Welfare of a Child. Both are accused of selling methamphetamines, and that there was a child present when drug sales occurred. Diamond and Dunagan were arraigned in Norwich City Court and remanded to the Chenango County Jail on $10,000 cash bail each pending court action on October 10th.

Governor Cuomo announced that work is complete on a state-of-the-art Southern Tier Welcome Center rest area on Interstate 81 in Kirkwood. The revamped Southern Tier Welcome Center will encourage travelers to visit new tourism destinations across the state and region, promotes New York’s food and beverage products at an expanded Taste New York facility.

The New York State Department of Health and New York State Office for the Aging reminds New Yorkers should get a flu vaccination soon, to protect themselves and others during the upcoming flu season. Flu season usually starts in October and continues through May. Adults aged 65 years and older, people with certain chronic medical conditions, young children and pregnant women are among those at highest risk for serious flu complications, which may require hospitalization and result in a higher risk of death.

Oneonta Police Department responded to the report of a burglary in progress on Columbia Street in the City of Oneonta, Officers observed a male and female engaged in a verbal and physical dispute, with the male attempting to leave with a 3 year old child. 29-year-old Nicolas Martinez of Oneonta had an active order of protection in place on behalf of the child; he was arrested & was charged with 2nd degree Burglary, Criminal Contempt, & Endangering the welfare of a child. Martinez was arraigned & was released on his own recognizance and an order of protection was issued.

New York State of Health announced that more than 4 million people have signed up for health insurance through the Marketplace. The Marketplace Open Enrollment Period begins November 1st and has been extended to January 31, 2018, beyond the federal deadline of December 15th to allow New Yorkers sufficient time to enroll.

State Police Major William McEvoy invites the public to help celebrate 100 years of service by attending the Centennial Open House at Troop C headquarters in Sidney Saturday from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
