Jeremy Coates of Oxford was sentenced today in Chenango County Court to to life in prison without the possibility, for the murder of David Green in September 2016. Melissa Crispell, pleaded guilty to robbery in connection with the Green case, she was sentenced today to 15 years in prison with 5 years of post-release supervision.

Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested 49 year old Daryl Webster of Walton for Criminal Possession of a Firearm, following a Mental Health complaint and investigation. Deputies discovered that Webster was in possession of a firearm without a valid New York State Pistol License, he was arraigned in the Village of Walton Court and remanded to the Delaware County Jail on $2,500 cash bail or $5,000 bond. Webster is scheduled to return to the Town of Walton Court at a later date to answer the charges.

After six rounds 13 year old Melodie Loya of Bainbridge misspelled a word, and ended her 2nd consecutive run in the Scripps National Spelling Bee Thursday in Maryland. Loya made it to the final round for the 2nd straight year, before a misspell of a word.

The Sidney Municipal Airport Fly in Breakfast will be held Sunday at the Sidney Municipal Airport. The event is scheduled to run from 8:00 am to 12:00 Noon.

State Senator Fred Akshar announced that there will be a free “Shed the Meds” event, at the Oakdale mall in Johnson City Saturday from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Drop off point will be in the mall parking lot near the back entrance of the UHS Stay Healthy facility. Southern Tier Aids Program will also conduct a Narcan Training event, registration is requested at Akshar.nysenate.gov.

The Greater Afton Chamber of Commerce will hold their annual dinner on Sunday. The Chamber will honor Horton Hardware as the Business of the Year, the dinner will be held at the Silo Restaurant in Greene.

State Police arrested 29 year old Jack Gomez from The Bronx for speeding on State Route 17. Troopers pulled over Gomez, troopers detected marijuana, and they conducted a search & seized 800 milligrams of a hallucinogen & 15.5 grams of marijuana among other items. Gomez was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance he was arraigned in the Village of Hancock Court and remanded to the Delaware County Jail on $5,000 cash bail or $10,000 bond. He is scheduled to reappear on June 16.
