Norwich Firefighters responded Saturday night to a fire at an apartment building at 32-34 Silver Street. one person was found unresponsive & was airlifted to Upstate Hospital’s Burn Unit in Syracuse, 1 dog died in the fire. The Norwich Fire Department was assisted at the scene by the Plymouth and North Norwich Fire Departments. 7 people were displaced by the fire, the cause of the blaze is under investigation.

Governor Hochul says in a news conference today she will be making an announcement on Wednesday regarding the state’s #COVID19 mask policy. It is currently due to expire on Thursday, she indicated last week that it may be dropped or altered if COVID positivity percentages continue to decline.

Delaware County Public Health will be conducting a COVID-19 vaccination clinic for people 12 and older on Thursday at 97 Main Street, in Delhi. Pfizer 1st or 2nd doses will be available from 1:00 to 2:00 PM for walk-ins only. Pfizer boosters will be available from 1:00 to 2:00 PM registration is required at apps2.health.ny.gov; more information is available at 607-832-5200.

The Otsego County Sheriff’s Office arrested 29-year-old Steven Keach after deputies were called to domestic dispute January 27th in the town of Milford, Keach reportedly had a knife and was destroying property in the home. Keach into custody without incident, he was charged with 2nd & 3rd degree Assault, Criminal Mischief, endangering the welfare of a child, among other charges, he was brought to the Otsego County Jail for arraignment & was returned to the Otsego County Correctional Facility on $2,500 cash bail or $5,000 bond.

State Police at Norwich arrested 61 year old Douglas Webb of Sherburne for Forcible Touching and Endangering the Welfare of a Child. Webb is a school bus driver at the Sherburne -Earlville School District, he allegedly touched 3 students, ages 14, 15 and 16, he was arrested and arraigned & was released on his own recognizance, the victims were issued orders of protection.

Firefighters from Davenport & surrounding communities responded at about 3:45 Saturday morning to a fire at Gerster’s garage in Davenport. Firefighters battled sub-zero temperatures & icing, no injuries were reported, the cause of the fire is under investigation.

The State Health department & the Governor’s Office reported that over 161,000 people were tested for COVID Saturday with 5680 Positives, for a positivity rate down to 3.52%. Patient Hospitalization decreased by more than 300 to 5,147, there were 854 in an ICU bed with 494 on Ventilators. there were 68 deaths from the virus in Hospitals & Nursing Homes Saturday.

Delaware County Public Health reported 235 new COVID cases from January 29th to February 4th. Delaware county has reported 13 deaths from COVID since the beginning of the year.
