The victim of an August 5th shooting in Delhi has been released from the hospital. State Police said that 28 year old William Effner was shot by Roger Lynch of Franklin, who fled the scene and was killed by a member of the State Police Special Operations Response Team member during a standoff on August 6th. Effner was flown to Albany Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.

State Police continue to search for the body of 57 year old James Jones of Louisiana in the Whitney Point Reservoir. Jones was Kayaking with a friend Saturday when his boat overturned & he failed to resurface.

Democrats announced their unanimous endorsement of Molly Fitzgerald of Binghamton for re-election in the race for the Supreme Court 6th Judicial District. In addition to her duties as a trial court Judge from 2008 until 2019, Justice Fitzgerald also served as the Administrative Judge for the Sixth Judicial District from 2016 through 2019.

SUNY Delhi Athletics has achieved full NCAA Division III status, They will be eligible for full status starting Sept. 1st, it will include all 9 women’s sports and 8 of the men’s sports. SUNY Delhi will become eligible to participate in the NCAA Division III National Championships.

Assemblyman Joe Angelino is urging voters to participate in an upcoming virtual hearing on legislative redistricting for the Southern Tier and Central New York on Today at 2:00 PM. The input from these meetings will help the Independent Redistricting Commission in the redrawing of legislative and congressional district lines for 2022. Those who wish to participate are encouraged to register at: nyirc.gov/meetings.

Catholic Charities in Sidney is once again offering their Free Backpack program with School supplies for children in need in the Sidney School district, Spokesperson Penny McKnight explains:

A JOHNSON CITY MAN WAS FOUND GUILTY ON TWO COUNTS OF SEXUAL ABUSE FRIDAY IN BROOME COUNTY COURT. RAYVON MCNEALY WAS CONVICTED OF SEXUAL ABUSE IN THE FIRST DEGREE AND ONE COUNT OF ENDANGERING THE WELFARE OF A 7 YEAR OLD CHILD. MCNEALY WILL BE SENTENCED ON OCTOBER 7TH.

IN NEW YORK STATE COVID NEWS…THERE WERE NEARLY 113 THOUSAND COVID 19 TEST RESULTS REPORTED ON SATURDAY, WITH 3467 POSITIVE RESULTS EQUALING 3% OF THOSE TESTED. THERE ARE ELEVEN HUNDRED AND 62 NEW YORKERS IN THE HOSPITAL AND THERE WERE 11 COVID DEATHS SATURDAY. THERE WERE NEARLY 43 THOUSAND VACCINE DOSES ADMINISTERED SATURDAY.

THE NEW YORK STATE SHERIFF’S ASSOCIATION HAS JOINED THE LIST OF THOSE CALLING ON GOVERNOR CUOMO TO STEP DOWN. THE ASSOCIATION’S STATEMENT SAID THAT CUOMO HYPOCRITICALLY CHAMPIONED WOMEN’S RIGHTS TO BE FREE OF SEXUAL HARRASMENT IN THE WORK PLACE.
