The 2022 Legislative session is underway in Albany, Local Assemblyman Joe Angelino, one of the few former Law Enforcement officers now in the legislature, wants to be part of the process to change the controversial Bail Reform Law passed 2 years ago:

Assemblyman Angelino said that other big issues this include dealing with the ongoing pandemic, and the issue of worker shortages brought on by the pandemic.

Chenango County Health Department confirmed the 99th COVID-19 attributed death in the County since that pandemic began 2 years ago.  Chenango County reported 722 Active Cases 722, 35% are vaccinated, they have 8 hospitalized, and none of those were vaccinated.  1053 are Quarantined, vaccine information or how to report a positive home test for COVID, can be found at the Chenango County Health Department website.

A Woodstove was the likely cause of a fire on State Route 23 in Davenport Center Wednesday that displaced the Guernsey-Ryder family of 6.  Several Area Fire companies responded to the blaze that was reported just before Noon Wednesday by a passing motorist, the house at 12324 State Route 23 was destroyed & the family was not home, but the families’ dogs died in the fire.  The East Meredith Fire Department is collecting items for the family; they will post additional information regarding clothing sized for the family on their Facebook page.

Otsego County Office of Emergency Services announced that the KN95 masks will be made available Free for distribution to the public, beginning today at the Richfield Springs Fire Department on East James Street from 6:00 to 8:00 PM and again on Saturday, from 12:00 Noon until 5:00 pm or until supplies last.

Delaware County Public Health will be conducting a COVID-19 vaccination clinic for people 18 & older today at 97 Main Street, Delhi.  Moderna 1st or 2nd doses will only be available from 2:00 to 4:00 PM for walk-ins only.  Moderna boosters will be available from 2:00 to 4:00 PM, registration is required at apps2.health.ny.gov. COVID-19 booster vaccine clinics at the Fox Hospital’s Tri-Town Campus in Sidney will be held today, from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM, the Vaccinations offered will be the Moderna COVID-19 booster doses, for Patients 18 or older.  Appointments are required at 607-563-7080; more information is available at bassett.org/covid-19.

Governor Kathy Hochul today announced a plan to help address a critical shortage of truck and bus drivers by expanding the availability of road tests for Commercial Driver License applicants. The initiative would allow qualified 3rd parties to offer the road tests, which would create more testing locations statewide and expand capacity at the existing state-run sites, reducing the time it takes to get qualified CDL drivers on the road.  The DMV will hold a virtual public hearing on Wednesday, January 26, through WebEx from 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched Monday to a report of a crossbow bolt found stuck in the front lawn of a Walton residence.   50-year-old Bryan Cosma of Walton had discharged crossbow bolt into the air, within 250 feet of a neighboring dwelling. Cosma was charged with Illegal Discharge of a Crossbow; he was released on an appearance ticket, and is scheduled to appear before the Town of Walton Court at a later date.

State Police BCI unit arrested 26 year old Simon Braungard of Windsor for Sexual Abuse, following an investigation where he is accused of forcibly subjecting a victim to sexual contact on January 5th.  Braungard was transported to Broome County Central Arraignment and Processing.
