Oneonta Police Department & Fire Department responded early this morning at about 6:50 AM, to the report of an unresponsive male lying near a bicycle in Huntington Park in the City of Oneonta. The 50-year-old male was found deceased, video surveillance revealed a bicycle accident had occurred. The cause of death is unknown at this time pending a medical examination, The investigation is ongoing, the name of the deceased will not be released until proper family notifications can be made. Anyone with additional information on this investigation is asked to contact the Oneonta Police Department Detectives Division at (607) 432-1111.

Chenango County Health Department reported that multiple cases of rabies have been identified within the local wildlife population inside Norwich City limits. Any wild animal acting strangely and in close proximity to residential areas should be considered dangerous. If city residents supect that their pet has interactions with any rabid animal, they should not handle the pet, the pet should be isolated, more information is available at the Chenango County Health Department at (607) 337-1660.

Hospice of Chenango County will be hosting an event for Veteran’s Friday morning outside their Norwich offices on Court street, Spokesperson Sarah Green explains:

Firefighters responded to a fire at 164 Dumas Hill Road in the town of Fenton last night. Firefighters from Port Crane, Chenango Bridge and Five Mile Point responded, the building was completely destroyed, occupants escaped without injury, The cause of the fire is under investigation.

The Broome County Sheriff’s Deputies & local 1st responders were called to State Route 235 in Harpursville Wednesday night for the report of a car down an embankment with driver entrapment. The unidentified driver was extricated & taken to an area hospital, no other vehicles were involved & the cause off the accident is under investigation.

Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested 19 year old Eyan Laboy of Chester after an investigation of an Accident on November 1st to Holmes Hollow Road in the Town of Delhi. Deputies charged Laboy with DWI & failure to keep right, he was ordered to appear in the Town of Delhi Court at a later date.

46 year old Jamie Crowley of Windsor was found guilty by a jury of Criminal Possession of a Weapon, 2 counts of Menacing in Broome County Court, on July 3, 2021, Broome County Sheriff’s deputies responded to Crowley’s home after reports of Crowley firing a gun at a woman’s car who turned around in his driveway, and at responding deputies, who returned fire, Crowley sustained non-life threatening injuries. Crowley was sent back to the Broome County Jail following the guilty verdict.
