The Winter Weather Advisory will be in effect through Friday Afternoon, local Meteorologist Rich Townsend told WCDO News that the snow will come eventually, but maybe later than originally anticipated:

The National Weather Service has the Winter Weather Advisory in effect through Friday afternoon at 3:00 PM.

The Norwich City School District, the Norwich Police Department, & The City of Norwich, have reached an agreement bring a school resource officer into the district’s buildings for added security. The Norwich District has had an officer present during certain parts of the day, but they have not had a school resource officer specifically until this 3 way agreement was reached. New Norwich Mayor Brian Doliver told WCDO News recently that one of his top priorities was to get an SRO into the Norwich school district.

The Delaware County Public Health COVID-19 vaccination clinic scheduled for Friday, February 4th at the Catskill Veterans Outreach Center in Stamford has been canceled due to forecasted weather. The vaccination clinic on February 5th in Stamford remains scheduled to operate at 11AM-7PM. Registration links for the clinic on Saturday can be found at delawarecountypublichealth.com.

The Otsego County Health Department reported 68 new COVID 19 cases on Wednesday, with 5 hospitalized & no new deaths reported. The County’s 7 day rolling average positivity rate continues to decline, down to 11.7%. Otsego County and all of New York State remains under an indoor-mask mandate from Governor Kathy Hochul, through February 10th, with certain exceptions when proof of vaccination is required for entry to an indoor public facility.

The City of Norwich recently won a 10 Million Dollar Downtown Revitalization Initiative Grant, to help transform the downtown area & boost the city’s economy for decades to come. The Local Planning Committee will have its next meeting through ZOOM on February 9th at 3:00 PM, more information is available by calling Commerce Chenango at 334-1400.

The State Legislature approved of new redistricting maps for the state Wednesday. Lawmakers drew up new districts for Congressional seats as well as their own seats for the State Senate & Assembly, they head for Governor Hochul’s desk for approval.
