The Broome County Special Investigations Unit Task Force seized Fentanyl and crack cocaine after they executed a search warrant at 15 Carlton Street Tuesday. Police charged Christopher Fox of Binghamton with 3 counts of Criminal possession of a controlled substance and Criminally Using Drug Paraphernalia, they seized 36.6 grams of Fentanyl, approximately 1.4 grams of crack cocaine, drug packaging materials, and $2,288 of suspected drug proceeds . Fox faces court action shortly.

The Otsego County Sheriff’s Office arrested a juvenile following an incident Monday that occurred in an Otsego County school. The investigation revealed that the juvenile subjected another student to unwanted physical contact in a bathroom at the school. Due to their age, the defendant was issued an Appearance Ticket returnable to the Otsego County Probation Department. The unidentified student was charged with Unlawful Imprisonment, Obstruction of Breathing & Forcible Touching

The State Department of Labor announced that the number of private sector jobs in New York State increased over the month by 23,600, or 0.3%, to 8,238,000 in January. New York State’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate increased from 4.1% to 4.2% in January, the State’s labor force participation rate increased slightly to 60.5% in January.

A Ground Breaking Ceremony will be held for the new “ACHIEVE” site, tomorrow at 1:00PM at the new 96 East Main Street Location. ACHIEVE is undertaking a major renovation of the former CWS Packaging building.

The Gus Macker 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament in Norwich will be back this summer July 8th and 9th in the parking lot at the Norwich High School and Middle School. Organizer Tom Revoir said that they are hoping to approach pre-pandemic numbers for teams participating this year:

Delaware County Sheriff’s Office arrested 35 year old Michael Catapano of Oneonta for DWI, following the report of an accident Sunday on State Highway 28, near Frank Slawson Road in the Town of Franklin. Deputies observed a vehicle that had left the roadway and came to rest in the Ditch. Deputies charged Michael Catapano with DWI, Driving with a BAC greater than 0.08%, Failure to keep Right, Catapano was released on uniform traffic summons returnable to the Town of Franklin Court.

State Police were called to the Oneonta Walmart for a report of a larceny in progress. 38 year old Joseph Murray of Rome allegedly took items from the store without paying and loaded them into a truck, Police determined that 33 year old John Grass of Rome was still in the store taking more items. Grass provided Troopers with a false name, and it was found that he had a warrant out of the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office. Murray and Grass were both charged with Grand Larceny, Grass was also charged with Obstruction of Governmental Administration 2nd degree and False Personation, he was turned over to the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office. Murray and Grass were both given appearance tickets and are due to appear in the town of Oneonta Court on March 21, 2023.

The Broome County Sheriff’s Office announced that Brian Dart was in custody thanks to the quick response and assistance by local community members. The Office announced that Dart was wanted on warrants, 6 separate tips came in within 2 hours of the announcement & Dart was located and taken into custody.
