Tomorrow will be “Paint The Town Purple” day, to raise awareness for the upcoming American Cancer Society Tri town Relay for Life, spokesperson Heather Brewster comments:

The Tri Town Relay For Life will be held on June 7th at General Clinton Park from 6:00 to 11:00 PM this year.

Organizers of Woodstock 50 are declaring that the festival is still on after a Manhattan court judge ruled Tuesday that the event’s financial backer, Amplifi Live didn’t have the right to cancel the festival,  without the approval of Woodstock 50’s organizers. Woodstock 50 also requested that Amplifi Live be made to return nearly $18 million in funds that organizers claimed the company misappropriated, but the judge ruled that that matter needed to be determined by arbitration.  Woodstock 50 had been scheduled for August 16th to the 18th at Watkins Glen International Speedway.

a family of 4 escaped a fire in New Berlin, but lost all of their belongings early Tuesday morning.  the fire at the Richard Miller family residence was reported at about 1:30 AM Tuesday, The fire was fully involved when fire fighters from New Berlin, Morris and South New Berlin responded, and no injuries were reported.

The Delaware County Board of Elections announced today that  May 31st is the last day to postmark a registration form for the June 25th Primary Election.  Republican primary will be held for Hancock Superintendent of Highways, Sidney Town Clerk & for the Stamford Town Council.  Registration forms and applications for absentee ballots may be found at co.delaware.ny.us/departments or call 832-5321.

State Police report that 50-year-old Daniel Smith was working on the vehicle at his home on Oak Hill Spur Road in Afton when it fell on him & killed him Tuesday evening at 6:34 pm.  State Police said that the driveway where Smith was working on his truck was sloped; the incident has been ruled as an accident.  The Chenango County Sheriff’s Office and Harpursville Fire & EMS also responded.

The Afton Central School District will be holding a second public informational meeting on a proposed Capital Project tonight at 6:30 p.m. in the school’s Margery Secrest Memorial Auditorium.  Superintendent Tim McNamara comments:

The Guilford Elementary School is holding a Kindergarten Parent Information Night tonight for children entering kindergarten in September. Children must turn 5 by Dec. 1st; the meeting is at 6:30PM in the Guilford Elementary Gymnasium.
