Governor Cuomo today signed legislation waiving the state fee for marriage licenses for active duty members of the U.S. armed forces or their spouses. The bill also gives local governments freedom to waive the fees they charge for marriage certificates for active duty service members or spouses.

The Village of Bainbridge and the Bainbridge Chamber of Commerce are reminding area residents that tonight is the auction on “The Olde Jericho Tavern” building in Bainbridge. The building will be open at 5:00 p.m. for anyone to that would like to tour or inspect the grounds and the auction begins at 6:00 pm.

The Oneonta Common Council will hold their next regular meeting this evening at City Hall.  The meeting begins at 7:00 PM.

Delaware County Sherriff’s Deputies arrested 43 Year old Brandy Smith of Deposit, Friday on an Arrest Warrant for violation of probation plus 2 counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance & Unlawful Possession of Marihuana.  Smith is accused of possessing Marijuana, Suboxone and Methamphetamine at the time of arrest; she was remanded to the Delaware County Correctional Faculty with no bail as result of the arrest warrant, and is set to appear at Delaware County Court for further court proceedings.

Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested 49-Year-Old Thomas Newman Jr  of Hancock Thursday on 2 counts of Criminal Contempt, for allegedly violating an Order of Protection issued by Delaware County Family Court on 2 separate occasions recently. Newman was arraigned at Delhi Town Court, and was remanded to the Delaware County Correctional Facility on $500 cash bail or $1,000 in secure bonds.  Newman is scheduled to re-appear Hancock Town Court at a later date to answer for these charges.
