Sidney Village Police responded Friday to a possible burglary in Progress at 21 Division Street at a storage building on that site.  Police arrested 42 year old Phillip Wormuth, 21 Year old Cody Bolster & 24 Year old Shyanne Smith, all of Sidney, for 3rd degree Burglary, Petty Larceny & Criminal possession of Stolen property; they were arraigned & sent to the Delaware County Jail on $15,000 Cash Bail or $20,000 Bond pending future court action.

NYSEG announced that restoration efforts from Sunday’s severe thunderstorms were just about complete, with less than 750 customers without power statewide. Crews and contractors continue to work on restoration efforts and They will continue to work with customers that may be experiencing isolated outages as a result of storm damage to customer owned equipment. Another round of severe weather is expected this afternoon and evening, and depending on weather situations, NYSEG is using helicopters to inspect the transmission system that were impacted by yesterday’s storm.

Norwich city police have arrested 2 people for the beating of a victim on Lackawanna Avenue in Downtown Norwich recently.  Police reported that the victim had a skull fracture & was blinded in 1 eye, they arrested 25 year old Hannah Bard & Jonathan Booker for assault, the investigation is continuing.

Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested 34 year old Noel Johnson of Walton Friday for Driving While Intoxicated, Driving With a Blood Alcohol Content of .08% or greater, Speed in zone 60mph in a 40mph zone, 91mph in a 55mph zone, Failure to keep right, Unlicensed operator, operating without a valid NYS inspection, leaving the scene of a property damage accident, and visibly distorted windshield. The charges stemmed from a traffic stop on Johnson’s vehicle on State Highway 10 in the Town of Hamden, where Deputies determined Johnson was driving while in an intoxicated condition. Johnson was released on appearance tickets and is set to appear in the Town of Hamden Court at a later date to answer the charges.

Governor Cuomo today launched a statewide survey to select New York State’s new license plate design. The voting which opened today at now.ny.gov runs through Monday, September 2nd and will allow New Yorkers to choose their favorite among the five proposed designs. Voting will also be available to the public at the Governor’s exhibit at the Great New York State Fair starting August 21st. the winning plate design will be available starting in April 2020.

State Police are investigating a shooting early this morning in the parking lot of an apartment house on Shaffer Road in the town of Newfield.  Troopers discovered that a male subject was transported to any area hospital for a gunshot wound to his back; Police are looking for a dark colored SUV traveling south, Anyone with information is asked to call the State Police at 347-4440.

The City of Oneonta Department of Public Service is currently working on a water main break from 8th Street to Rose Avenue.    Residents will experience a temporary water outage while the service is being repaired.  More information is available at the Department of Public Service at 432-2100

NYSEG continues restoration efforts following an evening of severe thunderstorms, lightning and intense wind gusts across the state.  Locally, about 100 were without power in the Sidney & Bainbridge areas this morning.  NYSEG encourages customers to sign up for Outage Alerts to receive updates throughout the event automatically by phone, text, or e-mail as the company updates the status of the restoration process in their area.  This information is also available online at outagemap.nyseg.com/

The Chenango County Farm Bureau announced that they have teamed up with the New York Center for Agricultural Medicine & Health for a presentation Monday in Norwich, regarding safety issues with farm equipment, Farm Bureau President Bradd Vickers explains;

State Police and the Delaware County Public Health will be hosting a child car seat check event on today, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at the McDonald’s in Sidney at 141 Delaware Avenue. Please be sure to install the car seat prior to the check and bring the child with you, if possible.

State Police arrested 44 year old Stephanie Valk of Laurens for Aggravated Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs, Aggravated Unlicensed Operation and Operating a Vehicle without Ignition Interlock Device, among several other charges.  Troopers observed Valk driving on the shoulder of State Highway 23 in the town of Oneonta.  Valk was arraigned in the town of Oneonta court; she was remanded to the Otsego County Jail on $1,000 cash bail or $2,000 property bond.  She’s scheduled to return to court on September 5.

State Police arrested 69 year old Vincent Goffredo of Worcester for Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs.  Troopers observed Goffredo on Interstate 88 failing to keep right, swerve onto the shoulder and drive on the shoulder.  A traffic stop was initiated and troopers Goffredo was arrested and was arraigned in the town of Oneonta court where he was remanded to the Otsego County Jail on $500 cash bail or $1,000 bond.  Goffredo is scheduled to reappear on September 5th.
